Default Tax, it is still one of life's eventualities

http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Ot...237/story.html

Quote:
Clarke and Mary Margaret Webster believed that taxes were unconstitutional and that the federal government created a parallel legal system based on the Hollywood movie The Matrix that allowed them to opt out from paying them.
On Monday, those beliefs landed the couple on house arrest, facing a $342,407 tax bill that will likely cost them their home, and left them in personal and professional ruin.
Clarke Webster, a 63-year-old Ottawa dentist and grandfather, admitted to failing to declare income from his dental practice over a six-year period beginning in 2004, the same year he became a follower of B.C. man Russ Porisky and his Paradigm tax evasion scheme

This from what should be an educated man.......

Wesley Snipes also believed that since his birth certificate had his name in capital letters, that he didn't need to pay taxes and now he's in jail.

Nope, he has been in the US Federal Pen since Dec 2010 and will be until next June.

And I've been reading that there is growing concern that "freeman on the land" is spreading even though it doesn't have any validity. The guys spreading it are con-men who prey on people who feel threatened and disenfranchised. It sounds like an easy way out - "I never agreed to these laws so I'm not bound by them" - but it only gets them in deeper trouble.

I liked the part where the guy charged them about $32,000 for the advice to do it in the first place.

That was hilarious.

People should be allowed to not pay any taxes if they want, but if you don't pay taxes then you don't get access to anything the government funds. No health care, no public transportation, no in door plubing, and all that other good stuff.

There is absolutely zero way to do that in any practical sense unless you find an isolated island somewhere and never leave.

There are several places in Africa that meet this description fairly well.

Wait a minute, in this day and age of advanced technology there surely must be a way.

I know, let's implant everyone at birth with a tracking chip and give them an 'account' everytime you travel on a public highway, flush a toilet, go to school, etc. a user fee is charged to your account. That way you only pay for services you use and nothing else.

I'm sure that plan is something that every freedom loving individual could get on board with!

No driving, you can't work, cause you might use the toilet at work. your kids can't go to school, you can't buy smokes or liquor or food.

Can you blame him for not wanting to pay his taxes?

When the Federal Government sends Billions of dollars a year to Corrupt First Nations Chiefs and Hundreds of Millions in Aid money to developing nations it makes me wonder why more average Canadians aren't out there protesting.

The average Canadian household funds this *rap by sending tens of thousands of dollars to the Gov. in taxes a year.

The Nebraska State Patrol has executed a number of search warrants related to buildings in Syracuse, NE and a collector’s home in Lincoln. They’ve also issued an arrest warrant for the collector himself. Mark Pieloch, 52, is being sought after for felony willful avoidance of sales tax on as many as 150 collector cars.

A six-month investigation led to today’s events and despite a number of the cars being registered in South Dakota, Nebraska law states that if the vehicles are stored within Nebraska itself, sales tax must be paid.

Well someone put a report out the other day that said the US government loses about $3 trillion PER YEAR in revenue due to loopholes, deductions and various other 'schemes.'

But nice of them to take this so seriously.

Deductions are a problem?

Like the I-have-3-kids-and-pay-less-taxes-because-of-it deductions, or were they just talking about bad deductions?
