Ball hockey in Calgary?
Anyone know of a casual ball hockey that I can drop-in to a few times a week?
Back in BC, I would do it a few times a week, 5 bucks per night, really fun, high intensity but very friendly, gloves required, goalies with full gear, and that's about it.
I'm looking for a similar setup in Okotoks/Calgary area, hoping someone here knows of one I could look into.
Thanks!

GHL has drop in nights. You should check them out. Superleagues is the biggest ball hockey league in the city. But I don't think they have drop in nights. Just league seasons.

I used to play at Southland leisure centre...it was a great lil league. This was a few years back so I'm not sure if they still do it, but worth looking into...

We play ball hockey every sunday ( or try to at least if we can find goalies) at a church called the Calgary Chinese Alliance Church. Talk to Scorponok for more information as he is the one that usually hosts it. Everybody is welcome to play so along as we have goalies.

This sounds along the lines of what I was looking for, is it on the South side of town?

If one doesn't have to be Chinese or part of the Church, I'd be interested in that myself. This gut isn't going to absersize itself.

Nah man, everyone is allowed to come play, it doesn't matter if your chinese or white, everybody is allowed. It's pretty much a co-ed casual drop in kinda thing. There use to be a ton of girls that come play but since its pretty competitive there's barely any girls now.

Damn, Okotoks to NE Calgary is a pretty lengthy trek, how long does it run each night? 2 hours?

3 hours would make the drive worthwhile, I'll check it out. Any way to confirm in advance if goalies are coming before I make the hour drive?

A few options:
There is a group that plays Friday night at Hillhurst Community Centre 8-10 every Friday. There is a Facebook group that you can hook up with the organizer. It is co-ed.
Some people I know play Saturday 2-4 at Hillhurst rink. It's all men and by invite only. I can ask my friend though.
Calgary Outdoor club. Not weekly, but periodically. Co-ed, not as competitive.

PM Scorponok and find out. I'll probably be playing goalie tomorrow night instead of out.

Hillhurst was a good time, pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Great group of guys/gals, but a couple issues were, that it's a fair trek from where I live, they had a ton of people (like 22 people) and it was pretty expensive ($12 each).
How much is the Calgary Chinese Alliance Church one?

no need to pay. Only bad thing I find is that we gotta set up before we start playing.
