Telemarketers?
Has anyone else experienced a recent influx of calls? I'm getting close to 10-15 calls a night?
Almost driving me to unplug my phone and just let everything go to an answering machine.

Yeah, it's been stupid with the # of polling calls.
You can block numbers on some phone providers, I've blocked a few and it let up for a bit, but the past two days have kicked back into high gear.
This should be an issue.

Yesterday I got another call from some guy from india wanting to fix the problems on my Microsoft windows computer. It's been at least 4 months since I've heard from him.
I told him I still don't have a computer.
And: No, I'm not voting tomorrow.

I received about 10 phones calls today. I will be sumbitting a protest vote on Monday. If the WR and PC's are going to treat Albertans like children by bombarding us with useless phonecalls to sway our opinions, I see no reason to support either of them. If they had treated us like informed adults, which a lot of us are, I would have made an appropriate decision on the election and voted that way. All the phone calls have done is made me extremly annoyed at both the Wild Rose and PC's.

I've had way too many calls regarding the election. One was asking which party I was voting for. I indicated the party by pushing the corresponding number and they said "You indicated you are undecided. Would you consider voting for ... <insert party name here whom I forget they mentioned">
Today the Liberal party called saying something to the effect that this election has seen too much mud slinging so why vote for Wild Rose or PC because they'll act the same way when in power. Just vote for Liberal because your children's future depends on it... not quite verbatim but along those lines.

Yeah, the Wildrose calls are just completely out of control.
I had to go to the government site and add my number to the list today.

That'll just increase the calls, my number's been on that list for a long time, political stuff doesn't have to honour it.
On one wildrose call (non robotic) I mentioned it to the caller and she said that they aren't required to, but they will honour my request, so I asked to be taken off their lost or put on a do not call list or something.
That lasted for a little while at least, but the past few days they must have misplaced their do not call list.

Recording message right away and phone me everyday for this past days this week. Every time they phoned I pressed a different number. And I have WR called me everyday to ask me will I vote and do I support WR. On the other hand, PC only phoned me once to remind me don't forget to vote.

I got that one today too. Well, I didn't get as far as you did, I listened long enough to hear which party it was, then deleted the message.

Im sorry youve got the wrong number always shuts them up.

I get a weekly one on our answering machine stating that they could help consolidate our credit card debts.
Of course they show up as some bogus number on the caller id, and we're not at home to tell them to take us off their calling list.

I've had at LEAST 10 calls from the wild rose. Even after calling their office at least a half dozen time to be removed.
on the 5th time I called their head office number (i think its the same as the one posted in another thread) and informed them if I got another call I would file a police report for harassment. This still did not stop them as the candidates office (Paul Hinman) called me twice the next week. I filed a police report and called them with the police report number. This still has not stopped them. How can I expect a party that wont respect my basic request not to call me expect to respect my wishes when it comes to running this province.

Telemarketers always seem to have a pause between the time you say hello, and the time that they answer back. So, if I answer the phone and I don't get an immediate response to my "hello", I just hang up.

That's because the vast majority of them are on a big computer system that does all the calling for them and then just patches them through to the new calls. They get patched in when you pick up the phone, that's why there is a slight delay.
Only people doing it the old low tech way answer immediately strangely enough.

Bump*
I've been getting calls from Telemarketers nearing 10pm, that is a little asinine. Do we have a hotline I can complain to or report that company?

Was it about a cruise to the Bahamas? I just got one tonight at 8PM from a 514 area code of all places.
