Default Terrible breakouts

The combination of the Dmen rimming the puck as soon as they touch the puck and the wingers on or outside the blueline are killing the Flames.

They have been doing this since game one and it has not changed so I say it is on the coaches.

This style of play is why the Flames are ordinary.

How many times tonight did the Ducks rim the puck 2 maybe 3. The had most of the breakouts start with the D and a pass to the centerman then out easily.

I was always taught that if you have the puck the opposition will not score. All the exceptional teams have the puck more than their opponents.

Other teams must feel like they are picking cherries in the Flames end.

With Dmen that can carry the puck and be creative this play sucks the life right out of them.

It's not peewee hockey anymore.

I agree, everyone deserves there own opinion and ability to vent. But why start a new thread when frustrations can be shared in the PGT ?

Just curious - now posts or "time in" do you think a newbie should have before they are allowed to create a thread?

only problem is how busy the PGT can get, especially when you're a new poster your rant will likely just get lost in the haystack. is it better to be heard and ridiculed, or not heard at all? matter of taste I guess.

I agree with the breakout being bad and don't understand the philosophy. They keep trying to pass from their own goal line up to a winger standing on the other blueline. When it works the winger is typically standing still or just chips it in deep. When it doesn't it goes for icing. There have been some bad turnovers from defensemen rimming it to nobody as well, but this seems to be more of a problem with one or two players than the system.

No centres mean the defencemen can't risk putting the puck anywhere but up the boards.

Not sure if the forwards are always being directed to be up that high but I would venture to guess that they aren't.

Well maybe if we could win a few faceoffs we wouldn't be having this issue.
