Default Predict The US Election 2012

It's as simple as this -- guess which candidate wins which states and the person who gets the most states right wins....nothing. Just pride I guess! To make this as simple as possible, let's stipulate there are only certain states worth picking -- namely the ones where either candidate has a chance of winning*. Those are (in no particular order) the following 15 states:

Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, Montana, Michigan, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Minnesota, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.

Obviously some of those are more likely to lean one way or the other at this point, but it's as good a place to start without having to list all 51 states and districts. When you list them, list them in just two lists by candidate and include the total electoral votes for each.:

i.e.

Romney - Montana, Nevada, Iowa, etc., = xxx electoral votes
Obama - Michigan, New Hampshire, etc. = xxx electoral votes

* - This is the list of states where the odds of one of the candidates winning the state per Nate Silver/538 is 2 percent or higher as of November 1st.

- Also, Maine and Nebraska congressional districts aren't included. We will assume that Romney wins all of NE and Obama wins all of ME.

- As picks are listed, I will make a spreadsheet to keep track of who will be perfect on Tuesday. (This is like POOLS on Sports Select, someone will be perfect)

The deadline is 2pm Mountain Time Tuesday Nov 5

I think Romney will take Florida and Obama will take Ohio. The presidency will come down to the smaller battleground States, but Obama will reach 270+ with Iowa and Wisconsin.

edit: sorry, didn't really follow Girly Sports guidelines. gimme a minute

Obama wins but Romney has a higher vote percentage.

There are no protests about democracy being dead.

Ya, FOXNews and the Tea Party will just let it slide.

Neither side has a monopoly on reactionary zealots, there's just a difference in ideology behind their antics.

Sorry for not participating beyond that, but I don't know enough about state by state politics to predict much beyond Obama wins.

The complaints about Bush/Gore weren't about the popular vote winner losing the election. They were about not all of the votes being counted in Florida. Regardless, Obama will narrowly win the popular vote but the Right will continue spouting that he's not a legitimate president based on their race-based belief that he isn't a natural born American.

Obama wins: Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Oregon, Michigan, New Hampshire, Ohio, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Romney wins: Montana, Florida and North Carolina

Romney takes Florida, Virginia and Ohio. Colorado or Arizona would then put him over the top.

Romney suffers massive heart attack tomorrow afternoon. Bob Dole quickly nominates himself as the Republican candidate. He wins in a landslide, and is revealed to be an alien.
