Trudeau: “Canada isn’t doing well right now because it’s Albertans who control...
Darn it,
The convseritives have been annoying the heck out of me, and while I never like this guy, but I could possibly vote for his party if he was in charge, but he is falling farther and farther down that chain for me.
http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/...ere-voted-out/
The Conservatives need a real opposition for our nation to work, with creditably, and most of us are hoping the NDP die away, I don't know what this leaves us. I do not want sweeping landslides for Harper, that only breeds the attitude of the 90's from the liberals.
Same thing with the states, I would vote democrat, cause the other side scares me, but if the republicans don't turn into a more moderate presidential party, the dems will get greedy with power.

I might need to do some more homework prior to posting, this video might be extremely out of date, despite being on the National Post front page:
The Trudeau camp responded quickly to the revelations. In a statement put out on Thursday afternoon, they said, “The Conservatives are using out of context statements made years ago in a long interview. … We need to get beyond the divisive politics of the Conservatives and include all Canadians.”

In all seriousness, these comments are from 2010, and have come to light as the Conservatives are worried about the tight race in Calgary Centre. It's been discussed in that thread somewhat.

There was nothing out of context, he said what he said. Their contempt for the West is as big as ever and he is shilling to those that he needs to shill to. The NDP and the Liberals are both really bad options. I hope they split their vote.
If anyone is a 'fan' of this guy it really shows how dumb people have become.

Indeed this is more about how desperate the CPC appears than anything else. Clearly they think Calgary Centre is very loseable if they need to pull out two year old quotes for the outrage factor.

As I mention in the Calgary Centre thread, yes, this is probably desperate, but I really believe that two years ago someone in the CPC said, "Hey, let's store a copy of this interview for when we'll need it."
It's brilliant. And it'll probably work.

If that's the case they shouldn't have bothered wasting it on a by-election and should have saved it for when he's leader in a federal.

Yup, this has everything to do with the Calgary Centre election and building off of McGuinty's stupid comments to get Conservatives in Calgary Centre who are planning to note vote or pay attention..
I said this in the other thread, but I don't think this is really going to affect the average voter, this is just more fuel to the hyper partisans following the election. What Justin said was pretty dumb, but I don't think this is his "47% moment". Most people will forget this comment in about three weeks when Christmas rolls around. If there is anything we've learned in Canadian politics over the past few years is that apathy is incredibly powerful and most of the electorate will just let it slide as "typical Canadian politics".

I think the response by the Liberals is actually more offensive than Trudeau's comments were. The Liberal Party, arguing that we need to get beyond divisive politics and "include all Canadians"?
The Liberal Party said this?
I wonder if the spokesman was able to say that with a straight face.

In his defense, we should note the pencil-thin moustache that Trudeau is sporting during this interview.
We can't rule out that it might be his evil twin brother making those comments.
I mean, if I've learned anything from 80s television shows, it's that.

This is a good try by the CPC. I will give them 6/10 because its not their best effort. Last time when they broke out the decade old "Jack Layton rode his bike and got a massage" was a far better smear campaign.

Yeah, sucks that Trudeau got "smeared" with his own words, eh?
The apple appears not to have fallen far from the tree.

I don't know how people can write this off so easily. I mean I normally will brush off the standard garbage political stuff - the CPC "He's just visiting" and similar ads against Ignatieff actually almost made me vote for the guy. But these comments reinforce what I already suspect of the Liberal party - that they consider Alberta (and much of the west, really) to be a lost cause, and so are writing it off and hoping that not having to try to win any votes here will allow them to win more seats out east. If that means playing east against west, so be it.
This utterly prevents me from possibly voting for them, and I have voted Liberal as often as Conservative.

What would you call it? We all know that politicians of all stripes have made poorly worded or stupid comments, this pales in comparison to most of them. Its desperation at its finest. Maybe Trudeau doesn't even become leader of the Liberals? I suppose they couldn't come up with any Martha Hall-Findlay quotes to run up the flag pole? I see that good old Jason "I'm against career politicians" managed to bring up the NEP again though, so mission accomplished!

Yup...the words spoken are the words spoken.
But for Slava that doesnt matter...its all about what the other guys might have done.
I mean why discuss what actually happened in this instance when one can instead try and paint the right wingers with "what would they do/say"?....cause it would be worse for sure!
Its the ultimate deflect and ignore game plan....I suggest no one takes the bait.
Trudeau said what he said, and its pretty disturbing even if he was pandering to his base support in Quebec, as this guy has real aspirations to be in control of Alberta's future to a large degree while sitting in the HoC as PM....though i still believe thats a long shot at best.
Next up will be Mcguinty's words not mattering because Anders said a bunch of stupid things too!!
