Default Autobody Shops in Calgary

I have a cracked wind shield, and several nickel sized dents on my hood, from the great Calgary hail storm in August. My auto insurance company recommended BOYD AUTOBODY for the repairs. I wanted to see if there was an auto body place that you would recommend. I am still relatively new to Calgary, and was just wondering if some of you had some great experiences with auto body shops, that I am unfamiliar with. Thanks for your help in advance!

I went to Boyd for a quote recently and wasn't overly impressed with the experience. The person giving the estimate was not very thorough at all and at the end of the day their quote was three times more expensive than where I ended up getting the work done.

On the other hand, I had a great experience with Maranello's. They are a high end shop and I was very pleased with my entire experience from quote to picking up my vehicle. The only downside is they are very busy, so it may take a while to get your car in. PM me if you want any other details.

Maranello is the best shop in Calgary by a long stretch IMO. Gerry has done all my paint/body work since 1997. I would probably wager he does the paint/body work on 99.8% of the exotic's in western Canada. I know for a fact that some exotic owners in Vancouver send their cars to Gerry for work which is a testament to the quality he provides.

Eco Dent repair down the street is who Maranello uses for their PDR work. Brian Harris (co-owner) is one of the best PDR Guy's out there as well.

My Acura dealership sent our MDX to Maranello's for minor touch up paint fix. One of their workers stole my wife's sunglasses while there. However, Gerry did compensate for the theft. Quality of work was good, overall experience, not so good.

I went to Carstar in Inglewood for a couple of insurance work and very happy with their work.

I went to Boyd a couple of times when living in Winnipeg. Do not go unless you like sub-standard work quality and cutting corners. Calgary Boyd might be different, but same corporation so I don't trust them.

Boyd has a fairly spotty reputation, as I learned from my days in Winnipeg. I'm glad I now have alternative choices.

Well. The insurance company finally got around to making a decision on my car. They are either going to give me $7000 to repair it (body work), or $9800 to write it off. The engine runs fine, and it has a little less than 150,000 km on it. I've heard really good things about Superior Paint and Body, on 17th Ave SW, so i may take it there if I decide to fix it.

You can take the vehicle where ever you want to have it fixed. If it is all PDR and you are ok with waiting a little bit get in Line at Eco Dentworks (as mentioned before) they are booking into Late Feb early March as it stands now. Thats were we send the majority of our customer vehicles and have never had a problem. Dont trust the hail chasers. If you have a problem and they have moved on good luck getting any sort of compensation/warranty even from your insurance co.

Heninger auto body did my repair. They're a toyota associate and my car's a Lexus so I figured it made sense. They did a great job, they were quick and they knocked off about $500 bucks (from a little over $3500 to $3k even) because I wasn't going through insurance, and this was after finding me a pretty solid part deal. I'd call the experience a good one all around.

Heninger is building a huge new body shop in a Manchester area.

Oh, it must be the mechanical shop.

I was pretty drunk during the conversation to be honest.

Insist on Boyd!

Maranello was great for me.

Shagannapi Chev was not. Clear pealed off a year later.

Car Star downtown was great for me, not so hot for my parents (super slow, no communication).
