Default Metal Snow Shovels

This may be a fairly useless thread, but I’m looking for a new snow shovel and wanted a metal snow shovel, not a plastic one with a metal edge, but a good solid shovel. But apparently I cannot find them anywhere. Anybody know where I can get one?

I would try some lanscape equipment suppliers maybe. I can't think of any off hand though.

Got a beauty metal snow pusher at Rona the other day. Didn't see it on their website, just at the store. $22 I think.

This was the note her daughter brought into school the next day...

Dear Ms. Davis,
I want to be very clear on my child’s illustration. It is NOT of me on a dance pole on a stage in a strip joint. I work at Home Depot and had commented to my daughter how much money we made in the recent snowstorm. This photo is of me selling a shovel.

Just thought this was worth a bump. I just ordered a shovel from Fastenal
Steel shovel

The price is the US price; the local store quoted me something closer to $50 CDN. They say it will be in next week; so I will find out how good it is then.

I bought an aluminum one from Canadian tire. Figure it will bend on the first real snowfall. Would like to hear how the tempered steel ones fare.

Don't you have like 15 feet of sidewalk as the only thing you have to shovel?

Meh, it's Calgary.

It's like cheaping out on winter tires because you don't drive much.

It still snows 8 months out of the year.

It's like those new transplants from Alberta to Vancouver who don't buy a raincoat because they're just here for school. Uh, guys, hate to break it to you, but it rains 9 months of the year here, you're going to need a rain jacket.

Then again, I'm one of those guys that likes to make a purchase and then not have to concern myself with that same purchase for years, preferably decades, with the same purchase.

If I lived in Calgary, I'd get a depleted uranium snow shovel, just for it's subtle heat generating properties to melt the ice I was shovelling.

PP100 available here http://eljay.com/locations.html

The beauty about these shovels is that when the blade wears down you can just buy the replacement head

That's the shovel you guys are talking about? I have one of those and I never use it. I love one of my plastic ones. It's all nice and worn down to a sharpish edge. That metal one is unnecessarily heavy and it gets caught too much if you shovel fast.

It can be hard to find an all metal snow pusher. I kept breaking the plasitc ones.

I use a dual system now. I have a metal grain shovel for scraping and chipping ice, and the plastic pusher for clearing loose snow.

The metal grain shovel is very underrated. Available at UFA and most other places.

This is my weapon of choice

http://www.homehardware.ca/en/rec/in...w+shovel&Num=0

It has a plastic blade (replaceable) but nice and wide - with one pass you can clear most of a sidewalk. So if the snow is low enough you can push snow quickly...

Just to make sure I'm not crazy, I went and shoveled my driveway with that thing after I posted. Yup, still heavier than necessary, and I still like my plastic one(s) better. It's all yours. pm me if you want it.

Damn... I was at Lowe's and found a steel shovel and bought it just an hour ago...

It's beautiful though and I don't regret it
