This week's winners will get a bonus prize of halloween candy.
Like a responsible adult, I will make sure to personally test each and every piece of candy to make sure it hasn't been tampered with before I send them out.

The Toronto Maple Leafs had a light workload this week with just 3 games. The team went a perfect 3-0-0 and climbed in the standings ... three Leafs earned nominations this week:
Player: LW Loui Eriksson (73 overall): 3 GP, 3 G + 2 A = 5 P, +4, 1 GWG, 1x 1st star
Loui Eriksson had some problems adjusting to life in Toronto, but he finally broke through this week with 5 points in 3 games. He found some chemistry with Michael Grabner and Paul Gaustad on the Leafs' top line, and honestly, everone of the three would deserve a nomination here ... but Gaustad is nominated for another award and Grabner didn't have a game-winner, so Loui is the man of choice here. Eriksson was scoreless in a 3-1 win over the Isles, but provided three points (1+2) in a 5-1 win against the Predators, including an assist on the game-winner. Eriksson then had his first two-goal performance of the year in a 4-1 victory against the Devils, scoring both the tying goal and the game-winner while registering 8 shots on goal. Unsurpringly, he was named 1st star of the game. Eriksson had it coming though, leading the Leafs with 18 shots in the 3 games this week while registering more than 20 minutes of ice-time each.
Goaltender: J.-S. Giguere (78 overall): 3 GP, 3-0-0, 1.00 GAA, .969 % svs, 1x 1st star
Well, what can I say about J.-S. Giguere? The old man has been the Leafs' MVP so far this season. He already won the goalie award last week, but he was even better this week. He again won all three games he started (he has 6 wins in a row now) and allowed one goal in each of them. He first led the Leafs to a 3-1 win vs the Islanders with 29 saves and took 1st star honours. He also provided an assist in this game on the first Leafs goal. In a 5-1 win over Nashville, Giguere turned aside 28 shots, and he had the same number of saves in a 3-1 win over New Jersey. All in all, Jiggy allowed 3 goals on 88 shots, which equals to a save percentage of .969 % and a goal-against average of 1.00 ... Giguere had everything but a shutout this week, but it'll come sooner or later. Giguere now leads all CPHL goaltenders in save percentage (.935 %) and goal-against average (2.14).
Unsung: C Paul Gaustad (63 overall): 3 GP, 2 G + 4 A = 6 P, +4, 1 GWG, 1x 1st star, 2x 3rd star
Paul Gaustad has been excellent for Toronto since being acquired earlier this season. Filling in on the top line for the injured David Legwand, Gaustad showed some untapped scoring potential aside Loui Eriksson and Michael Grabner. This week, he had his first goal of the season in a 3-1 win against the Islanders and was voted 3rd star in the game. Gaustad then led the Leafs to a 5-1 win over the Predators, scoring three points (1+2) including the game-winning goal. He was voted 1st star in this game. He rounded out the week with two assists in a 4-1 win over his former team, the Devils. He again got 3rd star honours in this game. He was also vital from the faceoff dot this week, winning 42 out of 74 draws (~57 %).

Nope ... I'm not falling for this trick again.... You know the one where you tell people to add a bunch of senseless stats and then dont award the honor to the guy who does. Besides how responsible would it be for you to give candy to a diabetic?

In a week that saw the Phoenix Coyotes go 3-0-1 to turn around the season, the phoenix coyotes had excellent performances out of certain players. In particular the top duo of Getzlaf and Perry, a tough decision was made in the nomination process.
PLAYER: RYAN GETZLAF. Starting the season off horribly, and the Coyotes playing horribly, Ryan Getzlaf picked up his game significantly. In what became an excellent week for the Coyotes was certainly due to Getzlaf and Perry playing like the top players they are. Ryan Getzlaf netted 4 goals and 4 assists for a total of 8 points in 4 games this week. He earned a first star and 2nd star nomination this week. Without Ryan Getzlaf's excellent performance- who knows where the Coyotes would have been in standings. Getzlaf also had a GWG for the Yotes this week.
UNSUNG: DERICK BRASSARD. Derick Brassard is a 65 OV center, playing 3rd line. He averages approximately 13 minutes a game. In this limited icetime, this week Brassard has managed to pot 3 goals and 2 assists. Phoenix needs the lower lines to chip in on goals, and also saw goals from the 4th line, but Brassard powering the 3rd line came up clutch and helped lead the team to victories.

Player: Frans Nielsen: 4GP, 4 G, 3 A, 7 Pts, +2, 1st star, 2nd star, 1 GWG. Centring the second line, Nielsen was the driving force behind our offense this week, making up for the lack of "wow" from our top line thus far this year.
Defenseman: Niklas Kronwall: 4 GP, 5 Pts, +2, 2nd Star. With Bogosian and Franson out all week and Ehrhoff out for the final game, we had to rely heavily on our top guys to hold the fort, and Kronwall came up aces again.
Rookie Tim Erixon (54 OV): 4 GP, 4 shots, 2 hits, 0 Giveaways, 3 Takeaways. Nothing too exciting stats-wise, but Erixon did exactly what was required of him in plugging the whole left by injuries and not looking out of place. He even played 2nd D line last game, when we limited the Wild to 18 shots (14:57 icetime that game)
Unsung Bruno Gervais (61OV): 4 GP, 2Pts, 0 Giveaways, 6 Takeaways, 4 shots, 3 hits, 4 blocks. Gervais was thrust into a top 4 role this week and proved he belonged. Without the combined grit of all our remaining d-men this week, there's no way we would've had a 3-1 record.

Unsung - Nik Hagman
60 overall, 1 goal 4 helpers. That is a total of 5 points in case Rob is making the selections this week. Not only did Nik produce on the scoreboard but he also shadowed the other teams best players and managed to keep them all from scoring.

Hit and Miss week for the Sabres 2-2-1 record
Nominate:
D Jordan Leopold 5 GP 2 G 3 A 5pts +4 1st star, 3rd star. Both Tobias Enstrom and Mike Green are struggling to start the season, and it can be argued that Leopold who is anchoring the team's top pairing has been the Sabres best player. He was a star for the Sabres in both their wins this week

I nominate Turd for poster of the week. I pick him because after I told him his team sucks, they turn around and beat my lousy team. His response? To laugh at my sorry a$$.

My team sucks when playing the Stars.
On 2nd thought, my team does suck. I mean, even the Avs beat the Stars.

Islanders nominate
Defensemen
Dennis Seidenberg 3GP 1G 2A 3P +3 9S 6H 4SB 2TA
Seidenberg continues to be solid following up last week's 4 point performance with 3 points this week and a +3. He is a top 10 dman in the league in points and take aways
Goaltender
Ryan Miller 3GP 2W 1L .931 SV PCT 2.33 GAA
New addition Miller seems to be liking the Island, some big shoes to fill with Lundy gone. After a shaky 1st game with his new team Miller gained his 1st #1 Star with the Islanders
Unsung Hero
LW Tom Wandell (59OV) 3GP 2G 1A 3P +2 0GA 2TA, 11.4 Mins per Game
A bonus in the Miller/Lundy trade with a game winner versus the Hurricanes and scored the tying goal in the 3rd against the hot Sens leading to a big come from behind win
