WEEK 19 : STAMPEDERS at Eskimos
Last game of the season. Both teams are going to be in the playoff after the Hamilton lost to Toronto 43-40 tonight. Stampeders (11-6) locked up 2nd place in the West and will be hosting the 1st round playoff game at McMahon against Saskatchewan or Edmonton. Stamps won 3 straight games and they won 4 games of the last fives games. Stamps defeated the Eskimos 3 times this season so far.
OFFENSE:
Stamps offense leads the CFL in points scored with an average of 29.7 points per game. They are 2nd in total offense with 374.8 yards per game and TD with 48.
RB Jon Cornish leads the CFL in rushing yards with 1,388 yards and holds a 145 yards lead over Kory Sheet of Sask. If he wins the CFL rushing title, he will be the 8th Stamps RB to win the individual title. The last time a Stamps RB won it was in 2009 when Joffrey Reynolds won it. Cornish is only 50 yards shy of beating Normie Kwong's rushing yards by a Canadian RB.
QB Kevin Glenn is 4th in the CFL with 4,083 passing yards and 24 TDs. Not bad considering he started as backup QB for Drew Tate at the beginning of the season. Coach Hufnagel might use Glenn in the 3rd quarter and give way to Mitchell later on. QB Drew Tate is supposed to be starting against the Eskimos and might play the first full half. Tate passed for 60 yards and 1 TD. All 3 QBs tossed at least a TD pass against the BC Lions.
R Nik Lewis leads the CFL in catches with 100 and he is 2nd in receiving yardage with 1,241 and also 2nd in TD in the league with 10. Lewis caught 5 passes for 81 yards last week against BC. IT looks like Nik Lewis might sit out this game. If Lewis sits out, look for R Joe West to suit up.
R Maurice Price had a tremendous game until that freak accident that sideline him for the rest of the game. Price caught 4 passes for 104 yards and a TD in a win against the Lions.
DEFENSE:
Stampeder Defense is 3rd in points allowed for the season at 23.7 yards per game. They collected a season-high 8 sacks last week against BC Lions and 15 in last 3 games and 2nd in CFL with 42.
DL Anwar Stewart had an awesome game against BC with 4 tackles, 4 QB sacks that earned him the Defensive Player of the Week, and also had 1 knockdown.
DL Cordarro Law had 4 tackles and 1 sack. LB Malik Jackson started with a defensive TD early in the game against BC. He ended up with 3 tackles, 1 sack and 1 forced fumble and 1 TD.
DL Charleston Hughes is still 1 sack behind BC Keron Williams after collecting 1 sack last week.
SPECIAL TEAM:
Stamps surrendered their first return TD for the season. A 56-yards punt return by Tim Brown.
K Rene Paredes went 4 for 4 for 16 points and is still in 2nd place in league scoring with 158 points. He leads the CFL in Field Goal accuracy at 92.5%.
Karl McCartney is 3rd in the CFL in special tackles. He had 2 tackles against the Lions.
It sounds like Larry Taylor will be suiting up against the Eskimos. I wonder if they will dress Armstead also if Taylor plays.
GO STAMPS GO!!!
Game Time: 7pm MDT Friday, November 2nd at Commonwealth Stadium
The game will be televised on TSN and RDS2. Fans in the US can watch the game live on NBCSN and webcast on ESPN3.

Vanilla Ice is the half time show at Commonwealth tonight. I thought it was a joke the first time I saw it on Twitter.

I don't care if they have to play the Riders in the playoff. I just hate to lose especially to Eskimos. Besides if the Stamps can't beat the Riders in the playoffs, then thy don't deserve to be there.

Tate is looking pretty good so far, but it's against a terrible team so I'm not sure what he can judge from it.

Tate's got the happy feet. He likes to throw a lot.. I don't understand why he just couldn't give Cornish the rock and get the damn record already.
I don't like giving Edmonton confidence in this game.
