Simmonds rumour
Multiple sources are saying that Wayne Simmonds may be traded to an Eastern Confernece team. GM Zukes was non-committal when asked, stating, "somehow the league scheduled us 3 games to play tonight, so I am not thinking about any trade scenarios at this time"
Stay tuned....

New Jersey blogger "InStampWeTrust" is speculating that Simmonds might be a fit in the Devil's lineup. It is well known that they have been looking for a top line RW and although Simmonds is a 2nd RW his all-around ability allows him to be a serviceable top line RW. However, it would appear if the Devils did acquire Simmonds they would have too many top 6 RW (Hornqvist, Okposo) so take this rumor with a grain of salt.

Hockeybuzz Eklund is reporting that RW Wayne Simmonds is on the move to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for LW Prospect Sven Bartschi.
We wouldn't read too much into this since Eklund regularly reports rumors that are never substantiated, but interesting considering the earlier speculation by local NJD beat blog "InStampWeTrust". This is also the first time we have heard of Bartschi's name on the trade block.

Breaking news: "Night Train" to New Jersey
Former Colorado RW Wayne "Night Train" Simmonds has been traded to the NJ Devils. League sources say the trade is pending league approval, but is said to be a one-for-one deal in return for center Bryan Little. Little is currently the Devil's top scorer while playing left wing on the second line, however with the balanced attack and defense first system in New Jersey his production isn't expected to be a huge blow. New Jersey GM stamptheseflames commented on the trade "Bryan has been great for us, however the chance to trade for Simmonds allows us to acquire players that fit into our system. There was an earlier rumor that Sven was the player traded and I just want to publicly state that he is NOT on the trade block. However I would be a negligent GM if I don't listen to offers on all of my players."

Night Train to Hell
New acquisition RW Wayne Simmonds played in his first game for the New Jersey Devils against division rivals Pittsburgh Penguins. He logged the most minutes out of all Devils forwards and sparked the first line into producing two goals. Simmonds had a hand in both goals with 2 assists on the night, but thus far it looks like Simmonds was exactly the type of player that New Jersey needed.

i can refer to him as simmer, that's his other nickname according to wiki.
Simmer to Boil
Newly acquired Wayne Simmonds and his line (Sedin, Kovalchuk), combined for a total of 16 points last night in a win over the Winnipeg Jets. Each player had 4 points, while a rejuvenated Ilya Kovalchuk had 4 goals including a hat-trick in the first period. The move has been a massive success thus far and GM stamptheseflames is hoping the more recent newcomers Brandon Dubinsky and Josh Gorges has a similar impact. Going the other way to the Chicago Blackhawks are recently acquired Travis Zajac who has done well in his short stint in New Jersey and defenseman Derek Morris who has finally been moved after being placed on the trade block when the season started.

Wow, glad to see Simmonds working out for you. I had 5 goals in the first 7 games with him, and well, he didn't score in the next 20, thus his availability. plus I found him to have a combination of speed and lack of agility that made him hard to control. Little hasn't scored for me yet, but I find him much better with the puck and his not scoring has more to do with my non existant sniping skills.
