"On November 1 the Harper government will ratify the Canada China Foreign Investment Protection Agreement. Harper will essentially sign away all of our rights.

The privilege is that investors can challenge government regulations if they think their expected profits are unfairly reduced. An appointed tribunal decides the case.

Three private individuals are entrusted with the power to review, without any restriction or appeal procedure, all actions of the government, all decisions of the courts, and all laws and regulations emanating from parliament."

An appointed tribunal will be given power to overide legislation on behalf of corporations if the legislation (passed by elected officials) gets in the way of profit? I can see how that would be a concern.

That isn't the same as "selling our rights", as much as it is diminishing democracy.

I would like to hear the other sides point of view though.
