Default LF: Manager EHS Drilling

JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Director EHS, Exploration and Production, you will lead, direct and coordinate all aspects of Suncor's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives in Exploration and Production (E&P) Drilling. This includes offshore, onshore and international projects. You will drive continuous improvement of EHS practices in drilling and embed these practices in the Well Delivery Model
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Lead efforts to develop, implement and improve the Operational Excellence Management System (OEMS) to support Drilling E&P in achieving world class reliability and EHS performance
  • Support implementation of Suncor's Journey to Zero culture (Suncor's vision for creating a culture of safety, whether on or off the job, that is shared by every employee and contractor of the company) and processes for E&P drilling
  • Set expectations and requirements for continuous EHS performance in drilling through active performance management/stewardship and trend analysis
  • Ensure preparedness for emergencies through processes, structure and resources to sustain effective emergency management for E&P drilling activities.
  • Lead EHS drilling competency development (identify requirements/programs, etc)
  • Contribute to specific internal and external networks (for example, Oil and Gas Producers Association) to share best practices, work on improvement activities and support high risk gaps
  • Support the well-being of employees involved in drilling operations through the management of health and wellness programs
  • Influence, monitor and audit non-operated drilling operations, including joint ventures with national oil companies
  • Facilitate drilling operational readiness reviews
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Coach and develop EHS drilling professionals
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Science or Engineering
  • Experience in leadership and managing work teams
  • EHS professional with a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or related designation
  • 15+ years knowledge and international experience in energy, oil and gas and/or petrochemical industries
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Advanced capability in or knowledge of on and offshore oil and gas drilling and international EHS legislation, regulations, codes and practices
  • Advanced leadership skills
  • Expertise and knowledge of process safety processes and requirements and the development and implementation of management systems
  • Skilled in risk assessment processes and techniques
  • Able to communicate well with all levels of the organization and with diverse/international cultures
  • Incident investigation skills and training as well as emergency management processes, requirements and structure as well as EHS auditing knowledge
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Work is primarily office based with travel required to the various plants and regional/ international locations across Suncor
  • Field work can occur related to inspections, risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Travel is moderate to high to engage worksites and support the business unit clients that rely on EHS programs and processes to drive business performance improvement
