Default WEEK 16: STAMPS at Winnipeg

Stampeders (8-6) lost to BC Lions last week while the Blue Bombers(4-10) led by QB Joey Elliot had an upset win over Montreal Alouettes. Joey Elliot will start again vs the Stampeders on Week 16.

OFFENSE:

Calgary offense was not good last week especially in the 1st half when they wasted a couple of chances in scoring TD. They only 16 first downs in the loss.

RB Jon Cornish ran for 61 yards for the game and still leads the CFL in rushing with 1,188 yards and 9 TD.

QB Kevin Glenn had an off day passing for 242 yards, one TD and 2 INT. Another game where he threw more INT than TD.

R Nik Lewis once again surpassed the 1,000 yards plateau for the 9th season, a club record. He had 6 receptions for 77 yards against the BC Lions.

R Johnny Forzani and Romby Bryant both had 4 receptions. Bryant caught the only TD pass from Kevin Glenn.

DEFENSE:

Calgary defense held the Lions to totals of 388 yards of offense. They spent more time on the field than the Calgary offense.

LB Malik Jackson led the team in tackles last week with 7 while MLB Juwan Simpson was next with 6. Simpson also collected his 2nd QB sack of the season.

DE Charleston Hughes was his usual active self with 4 stops, a pass knockdown and league leading 5th forced fumble of the season. DB Brandon Smith returned that fumble for a TD.

DE Anwar Stewart will be in the lineup after signing last week. He will definitely help Hughes who's been double-team every game.

I just heard the Stamps will be putting Keon Raymond as an LB and Brooks will replace him on his spot while Quincy Butler will be replacing Wall on the roster.

SPECIAL TEAM:

K Rene Paredes went 3 for 3 in field goal attempts against the Lions.

Returner Jason Armstead totalled 108 yards on kick returns including a long punt return of 33 yards last game.

GAME TIME: 11:00am MDT at Winnipeg's Canad Inns Stadium
The game will be seen on TSN and webcast on ESPN3.

GO STAMPS GO!!!

Thought I'd post this as Calgary can clinch a playoff spot with the scenario below:

Calgary win + Hamilton loss which already happened = Calgary clinches playoff berth
Calgary win + Edmonton loss = Calgary clinches playoff berth

One more scenario I want to point out is that if Calgary loses today then BC clinches a home playoff game.

ROSTER MOVES & INJURIES:

WINNIPEG:

OUT: DL Alex Hall(knee), DL Bryant Turner(ankle), R Cory Watson(leg), DB Brady Browne(achilles), DL Brandon Collier(knee), OL Andre Douglas(hip), RB Chris Garrett(achilles), DB Jeremy McGee(hamstring), OL Tyson Pencer(shoulder), QB Buck Pierce(concussion), FB Nathan Riva(hamstring), LB Rene Stephan(knee), OL Jordan Taormina(stinger), Anthony Woodson(knee).

************************************************** *********************
Due to Chris Randle injuries, Keon Raymond will move to weak-side LB position. DB Derrius Brooks will take Keon Raymond's position on the corner while DB Quincy Butler will be back in the lineup replacing DB Jamar Wall. DE Anwar Stewart will line up on the opposite end of DE Charleston Hughes.

QB Joey Elliott of Winnipeg will start his second consecutive game. He was so poised against the Alouettes last week but couldn't say the same thing the last time the Bombers played the Stamps.

The Stamps lead the all-time series against the Bombers 99-89-0 and are 37-57-0 in games in Winnipeg.
RB Jon Cornish just need to rush for 63 yards to move him to second place on the all-time single season rushing marks by a Canadian.

Khan moves to center today as Jon Gott is not healthy enough to play today. Heard rumblings that they might have a few plays for Tate today.

Dunigan doing colour commentary (good), Rod Black doing play-by-play (BAD) according to CFL on TSN's Twitter

I also hate these early games. CFL should play in the later afternoon and evening exclusively, except on Labour Day and Thanksgiving

Woot Glenn looking like Doug Flutie out there. Too bad we can't play Wpg, Sk, Edm or Ham in the Grey cup.

Two garbage calls give Winnipeg two bogus first downs.

Crap reffing might be the only chance that Winnipeg has to put points up.

Some nice sympathy calls get a Bomber touchdown, but they still never really look threatening.

Glenn. It should be an easy game but one Glenn interception will turn it all around.

What is up the with incredibly homer commentating by Dunigan?? I know that he is a former QB for the Bombers but his reaction to the TD was way over the top.

Dunnigan is a huge CFL fan and only wants the game to be close to be entertaining. Did you forget he was also our head coach once? hehe

And GM at the same time. Just after the team had a kicker as the President.
