Default Big Shake Up Between Yotes and Blues

The Coyotes and Blues hooked up for a fairly large deal late last night in which the Blues gave up the best forward but got two back, and the Yotes gave up the best Dman but got two back, among a backup goalie exchange.

Deal breaks down as this:
To Pho:
Alex Semin LW, 28y 68ov
Brad Stuart D, 32y 67ov
Nik Hjalmarsson D, 25y 66ov
Alex Auld G, 31y 71ov

To St.L:
Brooks Orpik D, 31y 69ov
Mikael Grabner RW, 24y 65ov
Kyle Brodziak C, 28y 65ov
Mathieu Garon G, 34y 75ov
2nd Round Pick (2013)
Cash this year and $1.5 next year

It was becoming quite evident moving a Dman for a forward straight up was going to possibly take me into the regular season with a problem on my hands so this fixes my problem on that front. Also upgrades my backup to a goalie I don't mind playing once in a while.

Thanks to SilentSim for the talks, they were entertaining to say the least.

Looks like a good deal for both teams. Some risk/reward in it for both teams which could make this an interesting trade to look back in a years time (or whenever there is hockey again). If Semin rights the ship in Carolina though then that probably tips the scales for Pho.Likewise, if Grabner can rebound on the Island then perhaps STL comes out on tiop.

Good work on the large deal gents!

I believe this deal will help out my D pairings, less reliance on one guy (Orpik) to put up huge icetime. Can have some nice pairings now between Smid/Hjall/Stuart/Gunnarson.

Also like the boost it gave to my top 6, particular adding Semin back to the first line.

Talks with RT fun as usual, and late into the night!

Semin > Grabner
Stuart = Orpik
Hjalmarsson > Brodziak

Love the deal for Phoenix

Why is it when smaller pieces are involved, most people just ignore them when comparing trades? The goalie swap and pick don't come into consideration there? That's a 4ov upgrade and the 2nd should turn into a decent prospect.

No, the goalie swap doesn't come into consideration.

The 2nd is nice but it doesn't sway the deal either way.

I think this is a fair deal. I like Grabner as a secondary scorer and PK guy and having a good backup goalie is hugely important to any team that doesn't have Spezza on it.
Semin is the x-factor here as he has the talent to take a huge step forward in Carolina.

I would much rather have what the Yotes got.
