Default Making an App

hey all,
i am looking at making a fairly simple app for the company i am working for.
is there anyone out there that can help me.
basically the app would consist of a few different topics and then uploading already made documents into the different topic areas.
is this even possible?
The final product for the app will be given to our client base for reference purposes and it will require platforms for apple, android and blackberry.
thanks in advance.

Wouldn't it be easier to make a website to do the same thing? Then you just need to optimize it for mobile devices and code once rather than 3 times.

A website would be MUCH easier and cheaper. Especially if you want it to work on all those devices.

I even know someone who might be able to help you out if your company gave you a budget for it...

Make a website like everyone is mentioning.

If you just want to upload files, etc. why not use dropbox? You can make public folders where everyone can view them.

I knew I could count on CP to help me out.
Thanks for the input.
We have a website now but for my clientele it might be easier for them just to hit an app button rather typing in website addresses and the looking for the info.
However I have seen websites that you can create an app button for that would allow a bit easier use.
Maybe our web designer can do that.
Thanks again everyone.

on the iphone you can bookmark any site to your home screen
if you have a icon for the site then the bookmark will use the icon as the graphic and it will look exactly like an app, you tap it, it takes you to the site.

although my knowledge on this is just for the iphone, don't see why the others wouldn't work in this fashion.

if you can accomplish your goal via a website - stay away from the apps - this is a way better solution and easier for the end user

Might want to give these guys a look. I saw them at a conference recently that used their 'app'. Pretty slick in theory. I am sure there are holes, but might be an easy starting point.
