JOB OVERVIEW
Suncor is recruiting Intermediate Mining Engineers for multiple Mining and Tailings Planning roles. As an Intermediate Mining Engineer, you will be creating and developing mine and tailings plans and designs. Based in Calgary, you will have the opportunity to work in an exciting and interdisciplinary environment.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Develop and optimize long range (+18 month) mine and tailings plans
- Develop mine designs, including, pit design, stockpiles, dykes, drainage and roads
- Schedule mine and overburden placement plans
- Create tailings plans and support designs, including pipeline corridors, dyke construction sequencing, and mass balances
- Incorporate reclamation and closure landform designs into the long-range mining and tailings plans
- Collaborate with long-range and short-range planning teams to ensure consistency with reclamation plans and stakeholder groups
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:- Engineering degree (P.Eng) in Mining, Civil, or similar
- Minimum five years engineering/planning experience in industry
- A multidisciplinary background in mining, reclamation, geotechnical/geological engineering and tailings planning considered an asset
- Superior change management skills and the ability to work in dynamic teams
- Knowledge of CAD and/or Mine Planning software such as Minescape and XPAC
Skills and Knowledge:- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with others at various levels within the organization
- Motivated, self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment
- An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relations within the organization
- Effective leadership skills; demonstrated ability to make decisions
- Exercises good judgment on complex decisions
- Ability to provide personal and technical mentorship to junior staff members
