Default Distance degrees: PhDs, DBAs from those American for profits

I've been thinking of persuing a distance education after I complete my Masters at the UofC; I really don't want to be tied down to a physical adress thats not my home.

I've been considering allt hese american schools which are "DETC" accredited or RA and NA. Do any of you guys have any experiences or knowledge on this matter that you could share?

Would these be "legit" in Canada?

How about Doctorates through University of South Africa?

Thank you,

One thing about American universities that I didn't know when I used to live in Canada / went to univ in Canada, is, there are A LOT of universities in the USA. Its not really as standardized as the USA.

A PhD is just a paper... granted a piece of paper that makes you more valuable, maybe. If it doesn't help you create value to your job, whats the point?

Just feel like I would like to continue with my learnings. I wanted to orignally attend the UofC for a PhD (haskayne) but they require you to be fulltime, thats justnot possible for me.

So i'm left with options which are distant, only problem is the definite reputable schools like heriott watt, argosy or liverpool are $40,000+.
