So driving back from Kelowna yesterday my buddy managed to get 2 speeding tickets within 2 hours. (Impressive I know!!!) BTW both were on the BC side.

Anyway, I've heard some people say that tickets out of province are nothing to worry about and you don't even really have to pay them. Just wondering if anyone knows the facts regarding this? I've thrown out parking tickets before but have never had a speeding ticket in another province. I know my brother ripped up a ticket from the states and never heard about it again but I imagine it's a little different within Canada? Can they get you when you renew your vehicle registration? Or do you just run the risk of being forced to pay if you were to ever run into trouble in that province again?

The real question...should he pay them or not?
Thanks.

BTW if anyone is heading West in the next few days #1 and #97A are both crawling with Cops between Golden and Vernon. Slow down.

Do you plan on going back? If so pay them, or go the exact speedlimit dead on for the next few years in BC. They can make you pay on the spot/arrest you.

I think this is why the American cops make you pay on the spot now.

I don't know exactly how it works, but I got a speeding ticket just south of Wawa in Ontario last year and I did pay it. The points showed up on my Nova Scotia license a month or so later. When they stop you they take all your insurance and registration info so it probably wouldn't be too hard for your insurance company to find out if you had or had not paid it. They'll certainly be notified that you got it, that I can guarantee.

^ That depends, not all provinces' systems are/were linked up. The last rumor I heard had BC and AB being linked up by now.

We asked the cop about that and he told us as far as he knew they were not linked as of yet.

My best guess is that if he doesn't pay the ticket or go to the court date, he will have a warrent out for his arrest.

Check your PMs if you haven't already done so Deelow.
