JOB OVERVIEW
Responsible for engineering within the disciplines of Instrumentation, Electrical, Static Equipment, and Rotating Equipment. This individual will be responsible for 1) the consistent application and compliance of Suncor's technical standards, Industry standards, codes and local regulations ensuring that the equipment is maintained in a safe manner, 2) Leading the Engineering and Quality Assurance functions to achieve best in class equipment reliability performance, 3) ensuring that technical guidance is delivered to the Operating Organization to achieve optimal engineering solutions during commissioning, start up and routine operation, 4) provide active leadership with respect to our safety "Journey to Zero."
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Overall leadership and management of the Voyageur Maintenance engineering group (i.e. hard side engineering) including selection and competence
- Ensure that the overall engineering resources are allocated appropriately and all team members have the skills and competence to perform their required duties
- Provide active leadership with respect to our Safety journey to Zero within personal safety and process safety
- Provide leadership to ensure that there is consistent application and compliance of Suncor's technical standards, Industry standards, codes and local regulations
- Develop and maintain a documented business process which supports a best in class equipment availability and cost performance
- Work collaboratively with the CFT and other peers to ensure that operational risk is effectively determined and minimized
- Planning for operational readiness and identification and implementation of commissioning activities
- Act as the focal point for the hard side engineering business process and ensure key Performance Indicators exist and are tracked routinely
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:- Degree in engineering, eligibility for registration with APEGGA,
- A minimum of 15 years industrial engineering experience with 5+ years in a supervisory role
- Demonstrated experience within a refining, upgrading, or a petrochemical environment would be an asset
Skills and Knowledge:- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and execute with limited supervision
- Excellent interpersonal/negotiation skills with strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills are required for this position
- Be an experienced leader with the ability to deliver on aggressive timelines
- Ability to achieve results through others

- Frequent site visits, increasing frequency as Project moves to completion and on to commissioning
