Default Elias Moves On

Having picked up Brad Richards and Daniel Sedin, Elias' days in St.Louis were numbered, only question was how many days? Answer: 1

Elias moves to the Pens in a deal that sees the Blues take a downgrade at forward for an upgrade on D and a much needed AHL goalie.

To Pits:
Pat Elias C, 36y 73ov
Chris Butler D, 25y 63ov

To St.L:
Johan Franzen LW, 32y 69ov
Brad Stuart D, 32y 67ov
Robert Mayer G, 22y
$1.35 Mil for 2012/13

This is exactly the type of deal we were looking for and are happy GM Goffie offered it up so quickly. Probably the quickest and easiest deal I've ever made, thanks Goff!

Nice to see Goffie mix in a fair deal from time to time.

Butler is horrible, so he will fit right in on Pittsburgh.

I would say that 75% of my deals are fair I win about 15% and lose about 10%.

That said I would bet I win more deals then 90% of the league because more half the league is scared to trade anyways.

My philosophy has always been trade, trade, trade. Sometimes you have to lose the little ones to win the big ones.

WAY too many GM's here are too hesitant to pull the trigger on deals that aren't clearly in their favor and that is why we see the same group of GM's constantly dealing while most of the league stands idle.

^^^ just giving you a hard time man!

Totally agree with your point on the dealing within a subset of the league though. Feels like the the same players float around the same 10-15 teams while the rest stay stagnant for the most part.

It is actually interesting watching what happens to a player who, for whatever reason, seems fixed on a team. Generally, after they are traded the 1st time they bounce around the trade-active portion of the league a fair amount. Its like we're all going to the same bar every weekend and seeing the same girls (guy - mango ) night after night and then every once and while a new girl shows up and everyone gets all excited.

I know you are, that post wasn't directed at you at all. As I know you are around a lot and easy to find when I want to nag about Gally. LOL That was just a general statement on the leagues trading scene right now.

^^^well you married Spezza this summer didnt you? We arent going to try and break you guys up...yet.

Fully agree with Goffie though...always trying to spin new trades with the same ole GMs, for the same ole players LOL...until that new girl comes on the block.
And now the AHL will have less meaning and focus as well.
