Kyle Okposo leaves the Pens for Brad Stuart and for the rights to highly rated prospect Matthew Dumba (D).
The Hawks are proud to have upgraded their second line by adding Kyle Okposo.
Okposo, who'll probably be playing with newly acquired Jordan Staal, says "I love Chicago, it's my kind of town!"
I received 8 offers on Okposo, I was pretty surprised the interest he garned so quickly. Their were 3 offers I seriously considered. This one brought us Dumba so that's why I took it over the other deals. I am high on Okposo and think he'll hit 30 goals this season. But having him on my 3rd or 4th line was counter productive. I let Stuart walk for free this offseason, but bringing him back gives me a good problem on the blueline as I have 9 guys there. Look for 1 or 2 of them to be moved out soon.
I signed Stuart as an UFA this summer. He didn't cost me anything.
Essentially the trade was Dumba for Okposo, who I'm very high on, and can help the Hawks this season. Dumba is 3 years away in my opinion.
Plus, by throwing in Stuart, it gave me the cap space to add Okposo.
