2012 NCAA football thread
I started last years thread on National Signing Day ... so I figured I'd do the same this year!
Here's to a repeat! ... jk, Bama is losing too much to have a chance this year.
How did everyone's favourite school do today?

I'm liking Oregon's class a lot. Arik Armstead should provide that dominate D-lineman ducks fans constantly complain about not having and the two WR from Texas (Addison & Allen) were the cherry on top of a very solid class, that may not be the most impressive in the country but address the teams needs going forward.

Stanford had a monster day...and Washington basically kneecapped Cal when they signed that DLine coach...never seen that many top rated kids follow a position coach before...
Michigan is my team, and they did well...5th on Scout...8th on Rivals...unfortunately, O$U managed a huge late season surge (feeding off the corpse of PSU) to finish 4th and 6th (i think)...
'Bama will be stacked as usual...I am fearful Michigan will not be able to move the ball against them at the season opener...

Stanford may have signed the best O-Line class of all time. It's scary to think what Barry Sanders Jr could do behind that line. Although it remains to be seen how good that team will be without Luck since he basically ran the offence while he was there.
The Washington situation is really strange. I don't understand how these kids who won't even have Tosh as their position coach are so drawn towards the guy. I still don't think they're going to improve that much over last season though.

Florida did good, hopefully Diggs doesn't fall for the Urban Liar gig and comes to UF. We already have a top 5 class which isn't bad considering we have a new coach and another new OC a second year in a row.

14th overall, not a terrible year for LSU, but below their current standard.
They signed Jamarcus Russell Part Deux: 6'3" 270 lb QB Jeremy Liggins.

Happy with the Spartan class, no need for an array of blue chip recruits to win when you recruit guys who have the right attitude. Looking forward to another year near the top of the Big Ten. As long as Dantonio is there that program isn't going away.

no kidding...Washington signed Tosh for big bucks...500 K for a DLine coach? Madness until you see how good he is on the recruiting trail. Washington could surprise...I think Sark is a very good coach, and with a new DC...they could mount a challenge but the pac10 is going to be strong with usc, oregon and stanford now.
Stanford is solid...gotta be impressed with those guys as they are true student athletes (they need to be accepted by Stanford before signing...and i don't think they relax their standards).
Diggs is an interesting case...great talent, but the kid could be a Pryor for whatever school he signs with, unless he gets his head on straight.
Surprised about LSU's class...thought it would be stronger considering what Les Miles has done (despite the loss in the mnc)...Bama is a monster...

I'm excited to see how some of these WR's the Tide recruited pan out. Also curious to see how T.J. Yeldon eventually does as a replacement for the role Ingram and then Richardson filled. He definitely doesn't have the same shorter, stout, brick-like body type that those two did.

i am more curious about QB...Maccaran (sp) looked good versus LSU, but I think the LSU defense was gassed...
Bama is always going to be good...as long as saban is there anyways...

Utah did well with their recruiting. If they can keep a qb healthy they will be in the mix

Very tough to say. The "failure to monitor" charge has resulted in some serious penalties in the past. However, the whole incident deals with recruiting services, and the failure to monitor them, specifically by not receiving enough written information from them. It's also not something any program has ever been punished for.
At the end of the day, it's a very grey area, and I'm not quite sure the NCAA wants to open that can of worms. UO has a ton of money and if the NCAA were to slam them for that I'm sure they'd fight it. They'd probably use a defence along the lines "you have to go after every BCS school if you see fit to hit us for something that lies in such a grey area and that most teams are probably doing to some extent."
If I had to guess that may lose a couple of scholarships but I really don't see a bowl ban coming from all this.

lol I didn't even catch that. I use firefox with spell check to catch things like that since I have dyslexia and it's extremely hard for me to spell things.
