JOB OVERVIEW
An experienced Completions technical professional is required to work in Suncor's In Situ completions team. The primary responsibility is to develop and implement sustainable thermal artificial lift and wellbore instrumentation technologies. The successful candidate will also be responsible for all other cased hole wellbore interventions as required. Experience and focus with electro-submersible (ESP) pumps is an asset
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Support Suncor's ongoing program of safety and operational excellence.
- Steward Suncor's In Situ wellbore completions programs from initial concept through to commissioning and startup. This includes, but is not limited to; technology development, budget and program preparation, contractor and project team interfaces, office supervision of field execution, start up support, and ongoing repair and maintenance. This will largely apply to wellbore instrumentation and artificial lift, but will also involve all initial completions of all In Situ wells (i.e. SAGD, OBS, Disposal etc), and all other cased hole interventions as required
- Provide technical support to the In Situ technology development, operations and production teams
- Understand and support project controls and strategic procurement requirements
- Participate in the development and implementation of leading edge In Situ bitumen recovery technology
- Develop awareness of unconventional completions technology and adapt it to enhance oilsands reservoir access techniques
- Support the In Situ Drilling department's exploration and SAGD drilling continuous improvement initiatives
Education and Experience:- Engineering degree or Technology diploma is preferred
- 5 or more years experience as a completions engineer or technologist. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrable commitment to EH&S, have experience with thermal horizontal completions (specifically SAGD), and have direct field experience
- ESP experience is an asset
Skills and Knowledge:- Understanding of and commitment to working with project controls
- Demonstrated creativity and initiative in executing safe and successful completion programs
- Strong organization skills and the ability to contribute positively within a team environment
- Clear and concise communication skills, especially when relaying complex technical information
- Strong computer skills, WellView and Microsoft applications is an asset
- Current knowledge of regulations pertaining to completions practices
