I thought some people might be interested in this. The Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (Austrian professional league), is hosting 2 outdoor league games in the Roman ampitheatre in Pula, Croatia. (Parts of the film "Gladiator" were filmed there).
I am going to the game on September 14th (Zagreb vs. Ljubljana) and will be taking photos. I am fully expecting it to be cancelled though and bought my tickets with that in mind, because I just don't see how they can make ice outside when it could easily be 30C on the Adriatic coast that time of year. Does anyone know if something like this has been done before?
i once played an outdoor hockey game in budapest, against the club team ferencvaros. playing outdoors in a real game has to be one of the coolest hockey things i have ever been a part of. this game in croatia looks like an amazing venue, i hope it goes well.
