They extended my contract without my consent. All they did was put into their magic computer saying I did when I wanted to change to a different plan. All it saved me was 5 dollars and they think anyone would be crazy enough to extend their contract for almost 2 years. It's ridiculous how Rogers treats existing customers. No one should ever sign a contract with them. Doesn't matter anyways they'll say you did regardless of what happened.
Stay away from Rogers if you're on the market for a new phone and/or provider.
Very deserving of the "Robbers" title they've received.

You guys are being unreasonable. Rogers provided me with a lot of entertainment as a child, and some of the anger being thrown his way in this thread is appalling.

I think it was probably in your contract that they would automatically renew the contract ad infinitum without your consent. I am only half-joking. I think it is what they do.
I once changed some stuff on my own contract plan about 2 years in, and only after all was entered and changed did they go, "Oh, by the way, this resets your contract."
Not to say all phone companies won't do this... THIEVES!
compared to a lot of other global carriers, canada has it pretty bad. (i work in telco, and have worked with over a dozen operators all over the world).

yeah I agree, I have only heard stories, but I assumed we get raped pretty bad in both cost and service.
call them back, argue and complain until you get it back.
i've had nothing but problems since i signed up a year and a half ago, and each time, I've argued and provided enough pushback that they relented on the term extension.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I've been with Rogers for over 10 years, this has never happened to me or anyone else I know.
Just complain and I'm sure the problem will be rectified.

The same thing happened to me before.
When I lived in Vancouver, I had a Rogers phone, but when I moved to Northern BC for a few years, Rogers didn't have service west of Prince George at the time, which was my work area.
I called Rogers and asked them if there was any way that I could get out of the contract since they couldn't provide me with the service that I required. I had less than a year left on the contract at the time.
They said they couldn't and instead, they offered to put me on the lowest plan they had and made it sound like they were doing me a huge favour. Then I found out later that they put me back on a multi-year contract from the very beginning so I ended up paying more in the long run for a phone that I never used again.
I am a terrible arguer unfortunately and couldn't get out of it.
