We just launched Spy vs Spy for iPhone/iPad/iPod

			Hey folks,
Our dev shop here in Calgary just released a remake of the retro classic Spy vs Spy from 1984 (Atari, Commodore 64, Apple //e etc)! If you were a fan of the original I think you will really enjoy it (online multiplayer...)

App store: http://itunes.apple.com/app/spy-vs-spy/id514737089
Deets: http://robotsandpencils.com/factory/spy-vs-spy/
Anyhow - as I usually like to give out promos to CP peeps I will work on getting some over the next few days (much harder to get on this one as most of the first batch went to review sites).. But will get them on here soon.

Good work. I've heard the name of your dev shop thrown about here at work. I think you've done some iOS work for us in the past. Glad to see things are going your way.

Screw the promo code, I am buying it to reward your work. Would have paid full price if it wasn't on sale.
 Awesome game!

Weird, I was thinking about this game the other day! I had no idea there was a remake in the works, but this is great.

I did the same. I like rewarding developers for their hard work.

It is SUPER great to see people respecting that it takes a tonne of hard work and $$ to put out a game and paying for it with no qualms. Thanks for the support guys - CP is THE best

If there was an android version I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Spent many hours on the computer as a kid with the original

Just picked it up. I loved playing this game on the Sega Master System back in the day. Can't wait to give it a go again.

One thing I've always wondered about games like this, did you have to buy the rights or something similar? Or is it old enough to be considered public domain?

Spy vs Spy isn't just a game though. It's still the intellectual property of Warner Brothers (who own Mad Magazine). I'm also not sure video games are old enough to fall under public domain.

You have to buy the licensing rights and usually there are other deals that have to be made as well (% of revenues, etc.).

I doubt Chuckles will want, or be able, to go into the particulars.

No, you do have to license it and in the case of this, you have to license from Warner Brothers/DC Comics and First Star Software. Luckily both are great partners - but it definitely costs a few bucks!
