The CI group is looking for an individual who will relish the challenges associated with:
  • Developing and leading a team of highly talented and capable initiative leaders to deliver the organization's high profile complex improvement initiatives that yield step changes in business performance.
  • Learning, experiencing and tackling a diverse assortment of technical and business process challenges.
  • Growing a strong improvement culture by role modeling improvement mindsets, challenging organizational constraints, and providing expertise in the application of specific CI tools and processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Building, translating, and implementing strategies for improvement across Oil Sands operations
  • Collaborating with Business Leaders, Functional Managers, CFT members and CI Specialists to plan, steward and deliver these complex initiatives
  • Increasing the Oil Sands organizational capability through CI thought leadership/subject matter expertise, leadership coaching on CI principles and tools, and the site-wide deployment of business processes that support the functioning of the Continuous Improvement organization
  • Leading efforts to systematically identify, document and value a diverse range of business, technical and operational opportunities with varying degrees of complexity
  • Translating enhancements to CI tools and processes between architects and those applying the tools and processes. This includes both recognizing potential enhancements through application, translating said enhancements to architects for incorporation into the OS one-way, and translation of the architecture into fit-for-purpose implementation in the field.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:
  • Five to 10 years of Engineering/Lean Six Sigma experience
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Capable of managing a portfolio of priorities, stakeholders and competing imperatives. Able to work under the pressure of tight time lines, high expectations and work volume
  • A demonstrated track record of delivering business results in a structured manner
  • Strong understanding of plant operating, technical, and staff environments enabling the individual to effectively navigate the organizational landscape to accelerate improvement initiatives.
  • High level of change management skill with demonstrated implementation experience
  • Transfers knowledge develops capability pertaining to focused improvement tools/processes/methods/mindsets to peers, direct reports and stakeholders through teaching, coaching and mentoring
  • Professionalism, communication style and general demeanor allow the individual to quickly establish credibility and rapport with employees at all levels of the organization. Able to understand the perspectives of others & discern their needs/concerns
  • A demonstrated track record of successfully leading and managing others
