Default Jets stop smoking Dubys

Thanks to sim for the pun....

Jets made a deal with Washington to bring in Paul Stastny. The deal details are
Paul Stastny
Henrik Tallinder
1 million in cap
For
Brandon Dubinsky
Brandon Gormley
2014 2nd#

I like Duby but I just dont see him having a great year in Columbus. I mean look what Columbus did to Carter and that was with Nash there.
I have always been big on Stastny and am banking on him having a rebound year. If not well, I will just fleece Ravi when he is trade to Calgary so NBD !

I also needed to fill some holes and find a serviceable D-man. Tallinder fits that bill . He is cheaper than what id find on UFA .

Washington is rebuilding so he really liked Gormley. He also needed to shed some cap so I think this deal works for both of us. Thanks Hesla for the talks!

We really like Gormley and that is why we made this deal. Losing Stastny pretty much means we are going to be rebuilding.

If Dubinsky can retain his 50 + point form a Gormley becomes the d man he should be become then it is a win for us.

Another aspect of te deal is saving nearly 4 M in payroll. Which opens some room up to replace tallinder on D

Well id like to hear your opinion on who you think got burned? I think its pretty even on both account but I have heard that Oklahomans dont know much about hockey.

There's a lot of risk for both sides

Stastny could rebound or he could fade
Dubinsky could see a bump in the points column due to being the first line center, and probably best offensive player, or he could fade due to him not having any help.

a lot of maybes on both sides, which means it's more or less fair.

Long term this could be a win-win or a steal for one, but both players have so much uncertainty that it could go either way.
