Default RAM Upgrade Recommendation for MBP

I have a 15 inch MBP, late 2011 model and I upgraded the RAM to 8 GB (2x4 GB Corsair Mac Memory) (http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX35470).

Since December, I had 2 defects with the Corsair RAM. (Stuck bit couple months ago and I got it replaced under warranty and it happened again)

I'm getting annoyed with the RAM corrupting my files on my system and having to do a fresh install again.

Does anyone have any recommendations on which brand is reliable? I'm leaning towards Crucial or G.Skill at the moment.

I assume you have tried to replace under warranty? Or product replacement plan.

edit: Obviously I can't read.

I can't suggest anything I would trust much more than Corsair. Just get it replaced, make sure you have a backup and move on.

Normally I would recommend Corsair because I use it in my MBP without any problems. It's weird that you had issues twice.

I installed this kit in an early 2011 MBP with no issues at all (about 2 months so far). The 2011s support 1600Mhz RAM so you get a nice speed bump as well.

I bought an 8GB kit from Crucial for my 2011 iMac and it's been great so far. I'd definitely recommend Crucial.

Bad RAM is almost vanishingly rare these days and I can't imagine the odds of getting two bad DIMMs in a row.

Were the RAM failures both in the same DIMM slot? If you swapped the DIMMS, would the error occur yet again in the same DIMM slot?

I wonder if it will turn out that you've got a flaky memory controller or other logic board part that is causing RAM related failures.

I have the original RAM that came with the MBP so I popped those in for now and several iterations of memtest all returned success, where as the Corsair RAM always return failure since it went bad. When I first got the Corsair RAM, I thoroughly ran memtests to ensure that it wasn't defective to start with.

Cool, well at least you can be confident it isn't the logic board.
