JOB OVERVIEW
You will identify and assess health risks to workers by planning, scheduling and conducting identified industrial hygiene monitoring projects for assigned areas of responsibility
KEY ACCOUNTIBILITIES- Provide day-to-day technical advice, expertise and direction to clients in order to ensure compliance to legislative requirements and to industry and company standards
- Conduct workplace assessments to identify, quantify and control risk to people, property and equipment and to identify and mitigate chemical, physical, biological and ergonomics issues
- Assist in the development and implementation of health and safety programs and processes that support the North Eastern Alberta regional business units (Oil Sands, In Situ, Field Logistics and Major Projects)
- Provide Industrial Hygiene support during Plant Turnarounds
- Perform as an integral team member of the Industrial Hygiene group, and regularly interact with other stakeholders and departments
- Perform as an integral participant in Joint Health and Safety Committees
- Interface with regulatory authorities on industrial hygiene matters
- Promote continuous improvement of industrial hygiene performance
Education and Experience:- Bachelors Degree in a science or engineering discipline with a minimum of three years work experience in Industrial Hygiene. Preference will be given to those with a Masters degree in Industrial Hygiene, and/or a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent professional designation
- Experienced in industrial hygiene monitoring methods, assessments (including: chemicals, noise, heat stress, lighting, ventilations systems, ergonomics), and abatement/remediation activities
Skills and Knowledge:- Proven team player with excellent interpersonal, analytical and communication skills
- Strong knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations and code as well as other legislation pertaining to health in an industrial setting
- Good technical writing and presentation skills
- Valid driver's license
WORKING CONDITIONS- Willing and able to travel as this role entails up to 50% travel to sites north of Fort McMurray
