Default Spray-on Granite

Has anyone used this product? I am going to be renovating a house I just bought in a couple months and stumbled upon it. My in-laws have it in their house that they just purchased and it looks quite nice and has the feel of granite. The only way I could tell it wasn't granite was by feeling underneath and seeing the sink. It looks like an under mount but really is is just a regular sink and the 1/4" or so of this spray granite on top of it.

Quick google and it looks like these guys offer it and it only costs around 800 on average per kitchen compared to the 5k it would cost for regular stone http://www.calgarycountertops.ca/

Would love to hear some reviews if anyone here has tried it out. Really curious if you can put hot pots directly on the counter as well

We have used this product in a couple of houses we have renovated. We're really happy with the product. Tim is also doing the backsplash for us, so we're looking forward to seeing the results.

Great product. There are do it yourself kits out there, but apparently it just looks sloppy. Best to let the pros do this kind of work.

Are you able to cut and put hot pots and pans on it like you would with real granite?

You shouldn't do that with real granite countertops unless you are trying to melt the sealer. Plus, hard countertops will dull your knives. Use a trivet for your pots and a cutting board for cutting.

I thought the whole purpose of getting stone was so you can put pots on it without worry.

That also pretty much goes for all stone, although IIRC Quartz doesn't have as much of a problem with it.

You really should avoid putting hot things on any surface if it can be avoided

Not at all, and it would make a great conversation piece if she sat on it before it was completely dry. Especially if she's unshaven.

Never loose your guard dude, milkman are now replaced with local golf pro's, RCMP officers, bartenders and lawncare workers. Hell even watch if she always goes to the same cashier at Safeway...you never know!

Scared yet?
