Yeah, I wouldn't give up on it.
Just knowing make, model, color and the fact that there is only 4 license plate digits instead of 6 could really narrow it down.
When I was a poor student, some idiot slammed into my parked car. Did some front end damage to the point that it was un-driveable. I certainly couldn't afford to have it fixed myself, but was very thankful that there was a witness that saw everything.
The other jerk ended up paying for the whole repair.

Was this today? I was at next door at Wild Wing around 530ish.
A plus is that parking area right out in front was, and usually is fairly full, so hopefully someone else saw it and caught a plate.
I don't think there are many, if any cameras in that area outside. I'm there quite often and can't ever recall seeing any.
What side of the offending SUV would be damaged? Any other info on it other than just black or grey and the 4 digits? I had the passenger door of my car given a sweet dent without anyone owning up to it and since have a nice hatred for people who hit n run. Would love to keep my eye open for the SUV, but would help if there was anything else you could remember.

Hit and runs are so frequent in Calgary it's the main reason why I'll never buy a nice car as a daily driver.
Hopefully karma bites that SUV driver right in the dick

This is why I park as far away from the entrance as possible. If I know I am going to a congested lot, I won't take my good car. Yea I'm paranoid but there are too many dickheads in this city unfortunately.

Report it! Two years ago I reported a hit and run and it felt so good to get that phone call from the officer a couple days later saying they found the guy and he had to pay for all of the repairs.

The lesson of this story is that taking 2 stalls decreases your likely hood of parking lot damage

Exactly! Why didn't anyone tell me they opened a Smash Burger in Royal Oak?

So we know that you risk being shot if you go to the Smash Burger on 32nd Ave N.E., and you risk being the victim of a hit and run if you go to the Smash Burger in Royal Oak.
Risky business, enjoying a burger has become.

That sucks man, but like SA226 said, even with only 4 digits and good vehicle description, the cops should be able to narrow it down. In this day and age I'm sure his vehicle got caught on a security camera as well. Don't give up and keep us updated. I love a good hit and run story that ends with the ###### getting caught!

You'd think that would be the case. I witnessed a buddy get hit while we were cycling, and the driver ran off. I had the 5 of the 6 digits of the license; and knew the 6th was either an "M" or "N." That wasn't good enough for the police; even though I also had the make, model, and colour of the vehicle. They made me have to commit to picking that last digit.
And this was with my buddy hurt badly enough that we had gone to the hospital; and he had broken bones. I'm not sure how hard they would look into a hit and run where there was just property damage; and a partial license plate.

Wow, if that's true that is terribly lazy on the cops part.

Yeah, that's brutal. He should have been an ass and reported a hit and run using M as the last letter of the licence. Then hung up, called back, and reported another hit and run, with everything the same, except with an N as the last letter.

And while I like that idea they'd probably make him sign a statement and knowingly lying on a police statement probably isn't the greatest idea.
Gold star for trying to think outside of the box though.
