Childhood memories you can't forget
I don't remember a lot of my childhood but one memory that sticks out the most is when I was about 5 years old and the original Nintendo had been released for a few years. A lot of my cousins already had it so even as a kid that young I wanted one so bad but knew my parents couldn't afford it. I believe they were $130 when they were released. I saved up from my birthday and other occasions where I'd get money and wasn't even close to having enough.
Thn one day my dad came home and told me to go get something from his car in the back seat and when I opened the door, there was a brand new Nintendo still in the box sitting there.
I will never forget that moment for some reason even though I hardly remember anything at that age.
What are some moments you'll never forget in your childhood?

I believe I was 5 years old at the time when I recall running across the street to my house as to not miss my favourite TV show. I clearly remember flashes/visions of kids on bikes almost upon me. Vision goes black and the next thing I remember is waking up on the couch in the basement with an icepack on my head.
One of the neighbours saw me lying in the ditch unconscious and picked me and brought me home.
Later that evening there was a knock at the door and I came up from the basement to see these 4 older kids asking my mother if I was okay.

My earliest memory:
When the second moon landing astronauts landed back on earth. I remember watching it as everybody in the room was so interested in it.

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. “Oh, no,” I said, “Disneyland burned down.” He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late. [J. Handey]

Being 4 years old, spending my mornings in my pjs, watching Mr. Dressup, Mr. Rogers, and Sesame Street while eating popcorn twists and apple juice. Having no responsibilities or worries at all. Good times!

When I was 5 years old I had my first drag em out fight with my best friend in the whole wide world over him accusing me of cheating at marbles. I'd finally had enough of his crap as he'd been grating on me for months.
I remember sitting on his chest doing a tarzan yell while throwing wild punches as him. I also remember my teacher grabbing me from behind. She was hot for a early 80's chick (and somehow this memory suddenly became about my first boner, but I digress).
She basically dragged me to the principles office and me and my friend were forced to shake hands and make peace. Our parents were called, my mom was upset about fighting, my dad was upset because I didn't knock him the hell out.

One of mine is very similar to the OP. I was a little older and badly wanted a Nintendo. I had an Atari when I was younger and bugged my parents every weekend to rent a Nintendo (man I am old, can you believe this used to happen?) from the local video store.
I wanted one for Christmas so bad, and my mom played it so cool saying that they couldn't afford one. So all my presents go under the tree and sure enough, no box is big enough to be a Nintendo so my dreams were crushed. I knew the box size having rented one so many times.
Christmas morning comes and my parents always had an order in which we opened our presents, so this one box was last. I open it up and it's a Nintendo! Apparently the boxes had gotten smaller since whenever the video store bought theirs! My parents had even gone out and rented several games that they knew I liked for a full week! Pretty sure they never saw me again that week!

Almost cut my finger off when I was 3 or 4. Somehow got my dad's hunting knife and tried to make a spear from a plastic broom handle.
Still got the gnarly scar.

I have several other ones:
- A hockey tournament in Didsbury where we kept buying Alf cards and garbage pail kids between games.
- A recurring dream where I forgot my skates for hockey and was super disappointed. This is also the reason why my favourite Hip song is "It's a Good Life..."
- Games played as a kid on the street of Beddington Heights. We were all allowed to stay out so late with minimal supervision back then at such a young age, something I would never dream of now with my kids.
- Toboggonning, and later snowboarding, every chance we got.
- Going to Flames games with my Dad, predicting which days he would come home from work with tickets and usually being wrong
- Running a betting service in elementary school for my buddies, I can;t believe the teachers allowed this.
- Marble season at recess!!!
- Foot hockey at recess!!!
I could go on and on

I was only 2.5 years old at the time (February 1975), but I remember running into my parents bed room one morning only to find my uncle in their bed instead of my parents. They had left in the middle of the night when my mother went into labour with my little brother. I also remember my mother walking through the door with my baby brother bundled up and showing him to me for the first time.

When you're a young man in love age doesn't matter. Plus the whole polyester pants suit, horn rimmed glasses and blue tinted hair . . . meow.
Frankly it was only a 75 year age gap, there have probably been worse.

My first Flames game was in the Coral a 5-5 tie with Quebec and I remember future flame :Jamie Hislop scoring for the Nords.

Walking around that weird carpeted mall at Southland and McLeod and going to Woolco.
Everytime I got a burger at Willy's in Acadia.
Saturdays at Lazer Illusions at Southcentre, then going to that weird tiny theatre and jumping from movie to movie on one ticket.
Biking the trail through the Weaselhead and riding around the reservoir.
