Sens Draft Review
I'm pleased with how the draft turned out. I was looking primarily to draft skilled forwards. After not moving the 18th pick, my goal was to draft a kid who I think the Flames might take next weekend. My pick at 28, I like Frk just because in my opinion he is the type of player that Detroit would draft late in the first round or early second round and develop into a real solid player. My favorite pick of the day was in the 4th round, 95th overall, Brendan Leipsic. I think this kid is going to be a player. He took his game to another level in the WHL playoffs.
Rd1-18-Sebastian Collberg-explosive shot that he releases quickly. Great finisher. Great skater with lots of speed. Agile on his skates.
Rd1-28-Martin Frk-High risk, high reward type of pick. 2nd line winger potential. Great puck skills, amazing one timer.
Rd2-50-Nikolai Prokhorkin-good offensive skills, good finisher and skilled playmaker. Also has a physical aspect to his game, willing to play tough.
Rd2-57-Andreas Athanasiou-great skater with blazing speed. Slick hands and tremendous stickhandler.
Rd4-95-Brendan Leipsic-his best attributes are skating, speed and energy. Had a great playoffs for Portland.
Rd4-109-Evgeni Krutikov-possible power forward as he like the physical aspect of the game. Good wrist shot.
Rd4-110-Niklas Tikkinen-push rushing defenseman, very mobile. Great vision on the power play, more of a set up man than shooter. Long term prospect.
Rd4-117-Kenton Helgesen-up and coming shutdown defenseman. Good decision maker.
Rd5-140-Chris Driedger-plays a simple game. Minimizes movement in the net. Very calm.
