Selected 31st Overall Goaltender Oskar Dansk.
Rated as the number one goalie in this draft on my scouting list, I had a good feeling that he would not fall far after 31. Dansk is a goalie who is fairly solid at everything. Good gap control, good lateral movement, good glove hand. Could develop into a starter in a few years.
Selected 33rd Overall Left Wing Stefan Matteau.
Two way skilled forward that looks very similar to the lead singer of the Grassroots. While he is living for today, his father was former Flame Stephane Matteau and is trying to show that he's not getting hyped because of his old man. Profiles to be a similar type of player as Curtis Glencross give or take.
Selected 53rd Overall Defenseman Damon Severson
One of the youngest players in the draft, Damon showed two way potential throwing up 37 points in 56 games. Good size with a decent shot, and good skating ability, Damon figures to be one of a rather large handful of good NHL D-men that will be taken this year.
Selected 62nd Overall Goaltender Brandon Whitney
I was shocked that Whitney was on the board still at 62. I had him listed as the 2nd best goalie in the draft only behind Dansk (yes, ahead of Subban and Vasilevsky). I wasn't looking to draft two goalies this year, just one but when you can get a 6 foot 5 goalie with good all round skills in a good goalie draft, you take that goalie no questions asked.
Following those picks, the Panthers selected 14 additional forwards and 5 more defensemen. My favourite two picks were Grant Bisse and Carter Rigby. Bisse was a very high scoring player in minnesota, and scored 5 goals in the championship game. Rigby was thought to be just a fighter but has shown really good hands and could be a sleeper pick like Brother Benn was a few years ago.
It'll be interesting to see where all these players end up.
