Default Need an inexpensive body shop

Can anyone recommend a good value body shop? It doesn't have to be in Calgary.

I'm looking for some minor body work (rust...booo) and maybe getting my motorcycle tank painted.

These things are mutually exclusive. Cannot exist.

^ totally agree - you are not going to get a $1,000 job for $250.

if you were looking for quality work, where no shortcuts are taken, I'd recommend Contemporary Coachworks. My cousin owns the place. I am slightly biased, but in my opinion they do the best work in Calgary, bar none. There is a reason exotic and high end owners bring their cars their.

Yep, my insurance company had me take my car there after a hit and run, that messed up the front left side of car pretty badly.

I was blown away when it came out of the shop. They made it look perfect.

Contemporary Coachworks does excellent work, but they're not inexpensive. You'll never find an inexpensive body shop that does top notch work, there's a lot of investment in specialized equipment to cover. I've had (insurance) work done there twice and you can't tell there was ever any damage.

For what you're looking for (not new car, paying for it yourself) you should try smaller shops with low overhead and just get quotes until you get one you like, most places will have work that is finished and going out the door so you can guage what kind of job they do. A friend had an old car repainted at Maaco in the southeast a few years back and it looked fine.

Stay away from Maaco unless you want the paint to flake off in the spray wash.

DIY. /Thread. You can save money by doing the prep yourself.

I recently did an auto body repair on a car, inner passenger-side fender apron, upper radiator support, and passenger side fender. I was quoted anywhere from $3000 - $4000. Doing the work myself, I spent a little over $1000. That included buying some nice tools that were needed to complete the job too.

I have seen Maaco paint jobs last 10+ years.
