Default jeep/rust spot question

I own a relatively new jeep (2009), obviously because it has the whole upright flat windshield setup I get a lot of rock chips on the glass.

But I've also noticed some small what looks like deep rust spots or the framing of the windshield, and some rust rings around the bolts.

I'm wondering if there are any recommendations around cleaning them up, or if it makes sense to find a professional to do it and a recommendation on the professional.

They are small, and there's only 4 or 5 of them on different sections of the frame.

That should be covered under warranty.

I'll get them to look at it when I take it in for another new windshield.

Unless Jeeps are different, dealer windshields are a total rip.

~$700 for me at a dealer, $260 non-dealer.

Cal-Alta had a groupon going this spring, so I went there, but I only get windshields about every 5 years and just shop around for whoever has the best price (I think CalAlta is priced a little high unless you have a deal).

one place i would recommend is King's glass - as in addition to replacing your windshiled, thye can also provide you with a diamond coat for it that resists rock chips and helps repel water. i called a few other windshiled shops and nobody else seemed to be doing this treatment.

i had this coating put on the windhsiled for my truck and i had no chips for two years (I drive on Deerfoot daily).

not sure about thier price though - i'd expect it to be higher.

Really? So what does it do with all the energy that the rock or debris imparts to the windshield when it strikes it?

It is possible that I bought into the hype, but stuff just seemed to bounce off my windshield

Have the glass removed! Have rock chips/rust spots fixed and either spot repaired or repaired by either a bodyshop the glass company uses or one of those micro paint people re install glass! Do not just put new glass in and than try to fix the spots because than you will have a clear peeling issue.

+1. They also top up your headlight fluid at no charge.

Kings Glass, we deal with them at the dealer level.

Next time you need a windshield CC call me, and I will set up dealer cost for you, since you bought the Jeep from us. It should be under $200.

I heard bad things about them in the Calgary Deals and Discounts. I have a coupon and need to replace the glass on my jeep.
