Well between the closure of the Cecil and now this, Calgary's list of shady hotels is becoming disturbingly slim. I mean, you probably have to go all the way out to the T&C to get your crack now! Looks like I'll be avoiding Bus #1 for a while....
First Chief Chiniki and now this. There must be some pyromaniac who hates dirty establishments. "This unhygenic bathroom disgusts me. I guess I have to burn it down now."

Where the hell am I supposed to buy illegal liquor after 2 AM if the Shamrock burns down?
Looks like you'll be okay on that front:

Fire crews contained this morning's fire in the Shamrock Hotel to two suites. Two people were rushed to hospital with smoke inhalation.

The silence from Springs1 has never been more deafening.

The last time I did a show there was about 5 or 6 years ago. But back then the patrons were fine. Lots of construction, oil, rig-pigs types. Nothing that really stood out as "ok, this is scary." Just your general blue-collar workers.
There were the occasional "ok, he's had too much to drink, and is sleeping in the corner" types. But harmless.
I loved the random...
"HEY MAN! PLAY SOME ####ING FOG HAT!"
Ok...sounds good!
Played lots of classic rock in there. The regulars would buy me drinks all the time. Can't tell you how many times I had to pick-up my equipment the next day. LOL!
I'm really happy to hear that the main bar is ok and that they plan to open in a few days. I don`t know where I`d be without music at the Shamrock, and the cheap whores of course.
