[GDT] Boston Red Sox (0-3) at Toronto Blue Jays (2-1) April 9th-11th
In the Jays Home Opener, it will feature a matchup of Felix Boubront against Henderson Alvarez. Alvarez has pitched pretty well in spring training thus far.
.
In game 2, Daniel Bard will face Kyle Drabek.
.
In game 3, Ricky Romero will seek his first win against Jon Lester.

Red Sox offense is still the best in baseball in my mind and going to be really tough. Their bullpen is a whole other thing.

The Red Sox are 0-3. The Tigers won 13-12 with 3 runs in the 11th!

Red Sox being 0-3 doesn't mean much besides showing they have a weak bullpen. Going to be a great test for Alvarez and Drabek to have to go up against that lineup.

Cannot wait!! I'll be up in the bleeds but pretty psyched to see my first ever home opener. Hope the jays bats can get going against the Sox pitching - gonna need to put up some runs because you know Boston will.

Hard to believe the Bosox will go 0-4 but Alvarez is my money pitcher for the Jays. I liked what I saw last year with him being calm and poised on the mound and having confidence with his stuff to challenge hitters on both sides of the plate. Hopefully he will continue to improve this year.

The Jays can make an early season statement if they sweep the Sox at home. Big three games coming up here.

Even 2 of 3 against the Sox will be a huge boost to the club.... Bard and Boubront don't really concern me, but that Lester/Romero matchup is going to be something else. If the Jays can get into the Sox pen early in games, I like their chances of taking this series.
Game 1 - Jays win 5-3
Game 2 - Jays win 6-4
Game 3 - Sox win 5-2

I believe in the Jays.

We are going to have to hit some starting pitching in this series. We also really need our pitchers to walk less batters, as Boston will make us pay if we give out as many free passes as we did to Cleveland.

Home Openers are fun. If anyone on the team who can challenge Romero for the number one spot would be ,IMO, Henderson Alvarez. It is early esp for a sophomore almost going into his 2nd year (August 2011) to state that but I like how composed he was last year facing big league hitters and got out of jams quite confidently. Very poised pitcher.

Electric atmosphere there in Toronto, you can feel the excitement for this Jays' season through the TV.... That being said, Go Sox

Huge crowd for opening day. Anyone know if it is a sold out stadium?

It's a sell-out. Not sure if all the seats are filled though.

That would be exciting to see and perhaps if not a WC this year more than likely next.

They are. Tickets sold out in an insane amount of time. I'm bummed to be missing it, but will be at Lester/Romero afternoon tilt on Wednesday. Different type of vibe over this home opener to, everyone usually is a sell out but there's a ton of excitement for this team here in the city.

With the crowd waving the towels and cheering loudly, it does feel like playoffs for the Jays (during the 90s).
