Default The Drive for 30th

After tonight's games, the Flames are tied for 29th overall, 2 points out of last place in the league.

This is a thread for those of us who think the best thing that can happen to this team is finishing dead last, and drafting before everyone else, to get their hands on one of these guys.

The competition right now is between Calgary, Colorado and Florida. While the Flames have lost 2 straight (8 straight on the road), Colorado won their last game, and Florida is on a 2-game win streak.

Join me in cheering the Flames on to the ultimate goal on finishing last.

They always say you should pick the best player available and not attempt to draft players to fill current voids, but...

If we finished with the 1st overall pick, would it be insane to trade down to 2nd or 3rd to take Drouin/Barkov (assuming you had an understanding with the team or teams that they were going for Jones/MacKinnon)?

It just seems like the players are all so close in terms of the media and scouts.

I still think Monahan is going to the best player out of this draft. 6"2 200lbs Big skilled Canadian Center. He's like automatic in the face off dot. He is a future captain. I totally see Jonathan Toews in him.

The team sucks and a top 3 pick could be a franchise changer. I am really against openly hoping for losses like this thread represents. However it begins and ends with MacKinnon for me. I hope we get him he is exactly the type of player we should build around. I like Jones but give me that #1C

Don't get me wrong I am happy with Jones, Drouin, Barkov, Monahan but MacKinnon is the top of my list

Anyone know what teams in the 2-5 range usually give up to move up to 1st?

I think the best thing for this team is to trade Iggy and Kipper soon, get future assets while making this team more of a 30th place team. I honestly think it would be more fun to watch as people wouldn't expect any wins at all. Start it now!

They should pull a Islanders but draft centres with every pick. One of them has to make it right? Right?

If the players are so close then it's unlikely to find a trade partner 2 to 3 spots down. Why would they give up the extra picks to draft a similarly rated player?

If only it were that simple. What if Iginla doesn't want to waive his NMC?

What are you going to get for Kiprusoff with Ryan Miller, Roberto Luongo and possibly Jonathan Bernier available?

It amazes me how naive this board can be in regard to the impact these trades might have and the ease with which people think these moves can be made.

Laughable.

I will be rooting for wins every time out.

As much as I hate it, we need it. What good does finishing in the middle of pack do.

If there is a season to do it, it's this one. Nice and short and hopefully we can start getting better by next year.

Bed shi##in fer Mackinnon!

Curious if the Avs are playing a little "what if" with their ROR decision at the moment. If things continue, they could've had a chance at 2 out of the top 3 draft picks out of a really solid draft.

The asking price for those other guys will be much higher than for kipper. Kippers going to be more of a rental than anything.

Maybe someone needs to draft that big dman in Seth Jones, some team might need a C like Nate Mckinnon while another team might need a LW in Drouin. It's upto Feaster to get teams thinking we will pick their player and get the most return if infact we end up with the 1st overall pick.
