Default 8.6 Earthquake off the coast of Indonesia

Tsunami warnings. I'm in Perth now, but I doubt I'd get anything if there was a tsunami. Really hope this isn't another 2004.

This is also apparently a strike-slip earthquake, which has a far less chance of tsunami.

Plus 8.6 is a small tremor compared to the 2004 9.1 earthquake.

I hope nothing happens... I was just in the gulf of Thailand a week ago. Currently inland in Cambodia...

after reading that it is on the Indian Ocean side, as in 2004, but sounds like most places are much more prepared and that everything is ok, no signs of a low tide.

Yeah, tsunamis are caused by water displacement. Since strike-slip faults don't really displace water, they don't typically cause tsunamis.
