HD Net on Shaw
Has it been removed for you as well? I didn't notice, but a friend did. What's the deal here Shaw?

This came up in another thread (can't remember where), but apparently HD Net is re-branding this summer and will come back as a new channel. Apparently the MMA and concerts will remain intact, but I'm not sure what else:

I guess we will have to wait and see if the new channel is offered, and if it will be worth watching in its new form. I'm not sure why Shaw dropped it now instead of waiting for the re-brand, but the demise of HD Net as we know it certainly isn't Shaw's doing.

What no more Art Mann, and Get Out
I love those shows.
But HDnet was just a weird channel, they followed the old CBC model of having reality porn on after 11:00 with Girls Gone Wild.

Interesting. I certainly didn't watch it much but I enjoyed the odd concert and soft core pron show that they aired. I'm becoming a little disillusioned with Shaw, regardless of this decision about HD Net. It's starting to cost too much money for what I watch.

HDNET went off Bell a year or so ago. Apparently they couldn't reach a deal as IIRC HDNET wanted more money and a bigger audience. By bigger audience I mean that it would be on everyone's plan. Probably the same problems with Shaw. I agree it is a pretty good station, too bad it's gone.

HDnet is dying, it was dropped by carriers in the States, and Shaw is the last of the big three in Canada to drop it.
Shaw added two more movie central channels to mirror the sd line up

I think the fact that other stations are dropping it as well leads me to believe that it is HDNet that is asking for too much for what they offer.

Good news. HDNet to me was always the HD Gimmick channel, mainly used to showcase the wow factor of the new HD world. Kind of like "The Fifth Element" was to the DVD's in the 90's, on full time at a Future Shop near you.
Given that HD is now mainstream, they never kept up, and I never found their mish-mash of programming worthwhile.
Hopefully Shaw can get more channels like FX, and the like up here.

Yeah, they might as well rebrand as "3Dnet" since that's what HDnet was, a way to showcase new TV technology.
I'll miss it for Inside MMA, but I actually haven't watched it in a while.

Well Bell just added a couple of useless rerun HD channels. Anyone want to watch Ugly Betty or Friends again. I never watched them the first time around. W-HD which I think is the Woman's channel and ABCSpark HD. Why can't they add something useful like Animal Planet HD or Speed HD. I want to see Moto GP in HD, the SD picture Bell provides is terrible.

Surprised at the opinions here. I loved the channel (and I don't even like MMA).

I really liked this channel when it first came out but I found I got bored of it pretty quickly as it showed the same thing over and over. I didn't even realize it was gone until I read about it in this thread.

Nah, that's not as much fun. My wife and I would watch this and say to each other, "How is this a TV show? How?"
