Default Dell printer wireless weirdness.

So I got this issue thats driving me crazy at work, he has Windows 7 setup on his mac, I walked through the instruction with him from scratch (uninstalled the drivers/software) because he complained he couldn't get the wireless to work with the printer.

So after full install with Dells install CD, he´s connected to the internet, wireless fine on the router and computer, so in the picture below when you click on the wireless network utility nothing happens, you can click on scan destinations or network computer name, both pop up right away...

This is baffling me, I´m thinking maybe because its on a Mac as a virtual win 7 this could be messing with it, but I have almost no experience with Mac's.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone else print to it? Can he print directly from his Mac? Did you reboot the printer?

I'm not a Mac guy, but I would start with the printer and then his Mac.

Can print directly from it via USB and tried rebooting printer and computer.

Just so weird everything is as it should be but I can't click on that one line "wireless setup utility"

My rule of thumb is never use a utility that a vendor provides with a printer, unless there is a very good reason.

I assume, since you mentioned virtualization, that he is using parallels/vmware/virtualbox/etc. Have checked to make sure that the Windows install is on the same subnet as the printer. Depending on the software some guest OS will use NAT, bridge or simply share the existing NIC. Check the documentation of whatever it is an make sure that setting is correct.

Once you are sure you are on the network, find out/set the ip on the printer, connect and it should give you drivers and you are set. Some functionality might not be there, like the Scan and Send via Email option that shows in your screenshot though.
