Default 1800 got junk

Has anyone used this service before? I know google has a billion reviews, I guess it is just job numbers being posted by the office.
Is it expensive? What is everyones opinion?

I have an old fridge in the garage and some 8 ft planks to get rid of.

They are expensive. I only used them once when I had a big load to haul. If you look on Kijiji, you will find someone that would haul that away for $50.

We used these guys to remove a vending machine I think.

I don't think they are worth it, you're better off renting a pick-up truck or even a small box van from Uhaul for 1/5 the price.
If I remember correctly you can at least call 1800GotJunk for a guy to come out, look at the stuff and give you a quote, and if you don't like the price you don't have to take the service, and there's no charge for the quote.

Don't do it. Hire a guy with a truck, or rent a truck. You'll save a lot of money.

1800GOTJUNK are the most expensive hauling company there is. As already suggested, check out kijiji and and you will find guys that will do it for half or less.

They are so grossly overpriced its not even worth having them come by for a quote. I had them come by once and they wanted triple what I normally would pay. Don't bother even asking them to come by for a quote, you'll be wasting either your time or your money, or both.

I've used Calgary Junk Removal half a dozen times. Always cheaper than 1800GotJunk.

Renting a bin that is left on your driveway is a much cheaper option if you have a lot of junk...

Or you can pick up one of those waste management bagster bags from Home Depot (or some box store) and fill it up, and call them to pickup when it is full.

Used them last year to haul some sod and dirt. The bin came 3 weeks late and they were another 2 weeks late picking it up.

And it was not cheap.

Don't recommend.

I had a big time coupon, so the price wasn't that bad. They don't know how to math, so make sure you double check all the calculations. Overall not a great value unless you use them to full capacity. They pretty much pick up anything from anywhere in your house. You pay by load and not time so don't bother making it look pretty. Random pile of construction waste, nails, sawdust in the basement? Leave it there for them to sort out!

We used them to take a few things to the dump a few weeks ago and were pleased with the service and price. The items were a couple very heavy doors, some old laminate, and a few other odds and ends.

We don't own a truck or have access to one, other than renting one. They came and collected everything, and were efficient. I think they may have cut us a bit of a deal, though, since it wasn't a tonne of stuff to begin with.

Watch out for the..."Yeah, here's your price"

Only to come out, look at the stuff and say..."Yeah, that's gonna cost you more."

Get them to see what you've got before.

I had to have 4 rooms of carpet and underlay and baseboards hauled. Waited for a groupon, bought 2 $39 coupons and for under $80 I had everything taken away.
Just keep your eye open.
