Looks like he has a little sandpaper to his game based on PIMs

Chuck Schwartz @UWChuckSchwartz The David Eddy (SCSU) rumors are 1/2 true. He's signing a pro contract, but it's an NHL deal, not minor league as previously reported.
Chuck Schwartz @UWChuckSchwartz
@CenterIceClub It's a legit NHL contract. Very different from a minor league tryout offer.

Well, I guess that answers the questions about whether or not the Flames can sign college guys to NHL contracts because they're at the 50 contract limit.

Guy could be the next Bobby Ryan or Corey Perry.
You know, have the ability to mock other players for not having two first names?!

Apparently he missed half his 2nd season with St. Cloud because his grades were below the minimum 2.00 GPA to be eligible to play in the NCAA.

Anyone know what wing he plays or if he is a centre?

Technically, I imagine he'll be on a PTO for Abbotsford through the end of the year and his NHL deal begins next year.
He plays right wing.

Found these interview while he was still in high school.
Quote:
McKeen's: I guess on the flipside, what would you say are your strengths as a player already and the style of game that you like to play?
Eddy: Kind of an all-around player. I grind in the corners. If I can make a move on a guy, I'll make a move. I can take it wide and get a shot on net or go to the net hard and bury a rebound or set someone up. Either way, as long we get a "W," it doesn't really matter to me, as long as we win. Blocking shots, whatever it takes.
|
Quote:
McKeen's: Now, for a staple question, who were some of your favorite players growing up and why and who's a player or two today that you'd like to equate to?
Eddy: I've always grown up liking Mike Modano, just because he's a U.S. born hockey player. Then, I don't know, I love the way Jarome Iginla plays. He's playing offense, he'll come back and wreck someone, go back and put one top shelf and make someone look silly. That's someone I've always loved watching, because he's just an amazing player and a lot of fun to watch

That's something I don't like to hear. Now there may be extenuating circumstances here but what this leads me to believe is either he's not intelligent or he just doesn't care. Maybe he's totally different on the ice but those are two attributes that lead to players like Rene Bourque.
I'm not saying that this is true but I just hope it is something else entirely.

Dunno. If he struggled for some reason and then pulled it up that's not a bad story.

So Feaster said they signed Eddy to an ATO (Amateur Tryout) contract.
I really like what Feaster said on the Fan 960 about this kid. Basically he's a sh*t disturber who can finish, which is very nice to hear. The Heat really need those kinds of players.
