Exclamation High River's entry in the Small Town Saturday Night Contest.

My small town needs your votes if we are to win. We are in the top 10 and in second place. Watch the video the town produced and help us win that concert. See why the infamous Mantracker and respected newsman Darrel Janz call High River 'home', and why Amy from Heartland (Amber Marshall) loves this fun, historic town so much...

Thanks in advance to those who chose to vote for us

How is High River even considered a "small" town anymore?

Voted Crowsnest Pass.

Never knew Darrel Janz was a parasite... errr... resident of High River.

Respect for High River: marginally up

Respect for Darrel Janz: marginally down

Voted Plamondon for three reasons:

1. To spite High River (and Devon and Black Diamond)

2. To keep country music events as far away as possible

3. It's the smallest town on the list, which includes many that I wouldn't consider "small," and in some cases not even "towns" (in practice, not in law) such as Bonnyville (6216), Devon (6256), High River (12 920) and Cold Lake (13 839)

If it didn't require giving them a bunch of information, I also would have voted for Plamondon.

In addition to those reasons, I've lived in Alberta all my life and have never heard of Plamondon, which must mean it's really an armpit of a small town, so they deserve something like this. Also, their video looked like something thrown together by the residents of a small town for a contest like this. It's not some slick HD production featuring a local pseudo-celebrity.

I would have considered voting for Legal if their video had featured a clip from The Phantom Menace of the alien dude asking Palpatine, "Is this legal?", and Palpatine responding, "I will make it legal", but it didn't.

But, since I didn't want to fill out all the information, I guess the parasites win this round.

The Plamondon mud bogs are a very well put together event every year that my friends and I make a point to attend.

Camping on site, beer gardens, a big dance, amateur and pro mud racing, various events...it's a great weekend in August that I'd recommend to anyone!

Hillbilly fun to be sure but fun nonetheless!

Plamondon is about halfway between Edmonton and Fort McMurray give or take.

Oh, and the "White Russian" women make for some nice eye candy!

Some clips of the racing from 2011:

Voted for High River, even though I have a friend who was hunting for Black Diamond votes. Most of my friends growing up who lived in HR were big into 4H, rodeo and country music, so I think they deserve it more.

I had voted for Black Diamond earlier. The underdog.

I shook his hand at the corner of Main and Main in High River. He used to live in Turner Valley I think.

Met him again when he was judging the "Old Farm Truck Competition" out at the Priddis & Millarville Fair last summer.

That steely gaze is real.

IIRC he lives on a ranch near High River.

Got to play golf with Mantracker a few years ago in Nanton. Really good golfer. He's a member of our golf club and plays in our mens league.

I submitted a vote for you Dion. But the question is this. Why would anyone want to bring country musicians closer to their town?
