There is a thread in the past few days that dealt with Apple repairs. I would look for that thread, as it had tons of good info.

I would grab the link, but have not figured out how in Tapatalk.

Looks like a new screen for a 4 is going to run you about $150. I'd definitely take it to an Apple store first and say "I dropped this, is there anything you can do for me?". The might just replace it for you.

They'll replace it for $169 I believe. Sometimes though, Geniuses do it for free. Very randomly.

I posted this in the other thread, but I had a really bad experience with them, and wouldn't recommend them at all. If you're going to be spending that much on a repair, I'd definitely check out the apple store first.

I spoke to a Genius at the Apple Store in Market Mall about getting the screen on my wife's 3 month old 4S repaired or replaced. He told me their used to be some unwritten policy that allowed them to fix or repair your device, no questions asked, one time during the first year or so of the device's life even if the damage was caused by something not under warranty (e.g., dropping it on the floor or in the toilet). He said around the time the 4 came out and the new Apple Care Plus was introduced, that policy was phased out.

He refused to fix the device for free but did offer to swap my wife's phone with a brand new one out of the box for $199. Since that's only marginally more than getting the screen replaced by iPhix.ca and probably a safer bet than relying on Chinese replacement parts I order myself, I think we're going to take him up on his offer.
