8 Types of Bosses

I've had the displeasure of working for a "God Boss". It was all about appearances. He once blew a fuse at me for not having cc'ed him on an e-mail I sent to an exec, despite the fact that I had just discussed it with him. Said it was all about appearances.... Made it standing policy that I cc-him on ALL business related e-mails I sent out. So I made it a point to DOS attack that inbox for all it was worth.

The next call was to the headhunter after that little episode....

I had a boss who threatened to withhold my Christmas bonus: A cheque for $25 and a bottle of Cologna Red which, at the time, was probably selling for about $3.50 per bag.

He thought that was some kind of legitimate threat.

I've worked for/with combos of God Bosses and Paranoid Bosses. You had to do everything the way they wanted it to be done, but, the second you took some initiative to do something, they'd freak out that you were stealing their job. Kinda funny when I think about it

I've got a Machiavellian MSc supervisor...... he wants to get to the top of the "most papers published" pyramid, as long as his students write them.

I worked with a buddy boss for about three years. He was a great guy, about once a month he would take a bunch of us out the pub for some beers and chicken wings and at the end of the night, he would always pick up the tab! Good times! Good times!

Mine is a combo of the good/buddy boss. Runs the company really well, treats me like gold and gives me tons of freedom, but still loves to take the boys out to the rippers and get hammered. I lucked out huge.

I would say I am different type of boss to different types of staff. To the management I am the Buddy Boss but to the non-management staff I am more the sadistic boss.

That's just how I see it though. It would be interesting to ask them.

I wouldn't want you as my boss.. you'd make me buy hats and if I didn't, you'd give me extrodanary amounts of work!

Well, I'd probably give you tonnes of work either way. If you bought the hat you might get Saturday's off every two weeks.
