Default Internet Connectivity Issues

So last night, my desktop computer was booting up and in the middle of it, I had a mini power outage at my house. I turned my computer back on only to find I was unable to connect to the internet.

When I go to Networks in Control Panal I get "Windows cannot find any networks." I also get something that says "The Dependency service or group failed to start."

I tried clicking on Windows Help and Support, but got an error message saying it was not able to start.

I connect through a wireless router, and I'm having no issues with my laptop.

Any suggestions?

in the run box type services.msc

check the status of the WLAN AutoConfig. It should be in auto and started.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

Assuming doing what keratosis says doesn't fix anything and other computers on your network are connecting fine, I would guess that your network card either uninstalled itself, corrupted the driver or was somehow damaged by the surge.

Check device manager and look for your NIC there. If it is missing, or has a yellow ! on it, then it might need to be reinstalled.

It was on auto but was stopped. When I tried to start it I got an error message:

Error 1747: The authentication service is unknown.

What now?

You may have to buy something like this if your NIC is burned out. It happened to me when my place was hit by lightning.
